Nintendo departed the Brazil market in early January 2015. Games for Nintendo systems have been impossible to get legally for a decent price since hen, but now things are changing.

Coming from Vice Brazil

NC Games, a local importer for games in Brazil, will bring Nintendo games again. The official report comes from a register in the Diário Oficial da União (basically the “Federal Register”), indicating that the games are in the process of age rating and close to get into stores.

The list of the games registered are:

  • 1-2 Switch (Switch)
  • Mario Party Star Rush (3DS)
  • Pokémon Super Mystery Dungeon (3DS)
  • The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild (Switch)
  • Mario & Luigi Paper Jam (3DS)
  • Fire Emblem Fates Birthright (3DS)
  • Kibry: Planet Robot (3DS)

Other games not listed are Bomberman R and Ultra Street Fighter II: The Final Challengers, which NC Games is in negotiation with Konami and Capcom.

But not all the games will be exclusive to be distributed with NC Games. Ubisoft works in Brazil and will be the official distributor for Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle.

They’re still studying the market for prices and expect to put the games into stores costing R$330 to R$400 (US$90+ to US$120). They didn’t talk about the console price.

This is excellent news for Nintendo fans in Brazil. This is a market that could be great for Nintendo and this opens up so many possibilities. Hopefully this foray into Brazil goes better than their previous attempt. Right now, this is a good start.

Baldur’s Gate is a legendary and beloved CRPG series, and one that has recently been remastered by Beamdog. After being asked by a fan on twitter about the possibility of the Baldur’s Gate games coming to the Nintendo Switch, Beamdog responded by saying that is an interesting idea and they will make the suggestion to the team. However, they also said they can make no promises yet.

To have  the series on the Switch would be absolutely amazing. I would hope that not only would these come but also Planescape: Torment. These games would take advantage of the system, especially the touchscreen, which not many games have been using.

Would you want the games on Switch?

Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle  has received even more proof of its existence. This time from a source that has consistently been right.

Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle has received a classification from the Brazilian ratings board. The game was officially added in a listing today, with Ubisoft is also listed as its producer, which is a sign that Nintendo will not be publishing. It seems Ubisoft is the primary part here.

The Nintendo Switch has been a success so far for Nintendo, exceeding the company’s expectations and shattering records. It has gone on to have one of the best system launches ever, but how has that affected the retailers selling it.

Bloomberg is reporting that both Target and Best Buy have a experienced a notable surge in business and that is thanks to the Nintendo Switch and its sales.

Best Buy Co. got a boost from Mario and Luigi in the first quarter, as demand for Nintendo Co.’s new Switch game console helped the retailer post a surprise sales gain.

The Switch, which debuted March 3, has emerged as a bright spot in a lackluster retail industry. Last week, Target Corp. said its electronics sales “leapt forward” thanks to the Switch, which it promoted in stores and online. In April, the electronics category overall posted its first monthly gain in almost two years, according to government data cited by RBC Capital Markets.

This is good news for everyone involved, as it shows that Switch can have a positive effect on sellers. This is in direct contrast to the Wii U ( especially in the UK), and therefore bodes well for the Nintendo Switch.

Nintendo did everything right in this situation and now will reap the rewards.

Pokemon developer Game Freak is recruiting for a new game. The company has put out an official job listing for a programmer who will be involved with some sort of RPG on 3DS.

We have no  further details, and nothing more is included in the listing. Could this be a new Pokémon game? We know a new entry in the series is supposed to come to Switch, so could this be something new instead?

We will have to wait and see.

Larian Studios sent out the following

Larian Studios has announced that Divinity: Original Sin 2 will launch on September 14, 2017. Much larger than its highly-awarded predecessor, Divinity: Original Sin, the game gives players tabletop RPG-like freedom to complete quests and explore a world like no other. Divinity: Original Sin 2’s critically celebrated Game Master and PvP modes will also be available at launch, giving players a toolbox to create their own tabletop-style adventures, as well as an arena where they can compete in strategic multiplayer combat against each other.

Players can already purchase Divinity: Original Sin 2 on Steam for $44.99 and play the game’s first act in Early Access here: http://store.steampowered.com/app/435150/Divinity_Original_Sin_2/

To celebrate this announcement, Larian Studios is releasing a new Early Access patch, featuring two never-before-seen areas and a new companion relationship system. Character creation and crafting have also undergone a serious transformation, and players will finally have a first glimpse of the upcoming new origin story, a pirate dwarf named Beast. For more information on this patch and all it contains, check out a new Kickstarter Update video at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tiWM2nuCTSQ

Divinity: Original Sin 2 promises a darker and more expansive story than its predecessor. Set a thousand years after the original, Divinity: Original Sin 2 puts players in the role of a renegade user of forbidden magic. Our heroes will decide who will be the next god of Rivellon and what that god will do with its powers.

Divinity: Original Sin 2 expands on the player freedom that made 2014’s Divinity: Original Sin so much fun. Divinity: Original Sin 2 features five playable races and a new tag system that lets players shape the background and motivations of their characters, from noble elven cannibals to swarthy dwarven outlaws. Each choice you make shapes the world, impacting how you complete quests, solve problems, and build relationships – go anywhere, take anything, and kill anyone, but be careful of the repercussions!

Divinity: Original Sin 2 breaks new ground in what players expect from role playing in their RPGs, featuring 4-player co-op through which players can compete or cooperate to reach their goals. The new relationship system provides more nuance to character interactions, as individuals will have their own objectives and priorities based on their background and race. Whether you choose to balance your party’s individual goals for the greater good or fight to make sure you always get your way, character relationships play a major role in determining how players advance through the world.

Tactical combat returns in Divinity: Original Sin 2, with even more elemental interactions and powerful skills opening up new strategic considerations. Divinity: Original Sin 2 introduces a new spellcrafting system that lets players combine spells to create powerful and unexpected results. New combat skills give the less magically-inclined plenty of strategic options to influence the fight. Also, for the first time in a Divinity RPG, it is possible to challenge other players to PvP combat in demanding arena battles.

There is more news to come from Larian Studios in the coming months – follow the studio on social media and  keep an eye on Twitch channel for more information on the biggest RPG of 2017!

Divinity Original Sin was an amazing throwback to the classic CRPG games of old, and provided a new generation of gamers with a different kind of challenge. Hopefully the sequel gets just as good of, if not better reception as it looks amazing. This is the type of genre throwback the RPG genre needs more of.

No GravatarSEGA of Europe sent out the following

SEGA Europe Ltd. today announced the departure of their COO and President, Jurgen Post. Jurgen had been with SEGA for over ten years, serving as Managing Director and Senior Vice President before being elevated to the position of COO and President for SEGA Europe in 2012.

Jurgen instigated and oversaw a seismic shift in SEGA Europe’s business operation back in 2012, making the very difficult decision to streamline the company’s European setup, closing the European offices and doubling down on a newly formed pillar structure. The pillar structure was at the time Creative Assembly, Sports Interactive, Alien and Sonic the Hedgehog, and the aim was, and still is, to focus on quality consumer experiences instead of quantity.

Since then, the business has gone from strength to strength, with SEGA Europe acquiring two new studios forming all new pillars in Relic Entertainment and Amplitude Studios, in addition to acquiring Crytek Black Sea (now Creative Assembly Sofia). Huge partnerships have been signed with the likes of Microsoft, Wargaming and Elex to license existing IP, release new IP and build new franchises. Additionally, a raft of fantastic best practice PC conversions have been released including Bayonetta and Valkyria Chronicles, much to the delight of fans.

“Jurgen leaving us is a huge loss, but he leaves SEGA Europe with the business in a fantastic position and in the capable hands of a superb team who will strive to keep moving it forward”, said Tatsuyuki Miyazaki, CEO for SEGA West. “We wish Jurgen all the very best for the future and in his new role and hope that his employees there will find him as inspirational and as motivating as we did here.”

The legacy Jurgen leaves behind is of a business transformed. A market leader in the PC strategy genre with one eye firmly on the console market and many exciting projects in the works. His tenure has seen Creative Assembly grow to become one the largest development studios in Europe, Sports Interactive to experiment with new ideas within the Football Manager franchise and nurtured the undeniable development talents of Relic Entertainment and Amplitude Studios. It’s a very different SEGA to the company many of us grew up with but it is once again, on the path to great things and SEGA Europe Ltd. would like to publically thank Jurgen for his leadership, his dedication to a vision and his tireless work to realise it.

SEGA Europe’s CFO, John Ward, will act as interim COO while Jurgen’s replacement is sought, with the full backing of the senior management team. For more information about SEGA, follow us on Twitter and Facebook or log on to www.sega.co.uk.

We will the best of luck to him in his future endeavors, and the best of luck to Sega on finding his replacement.
