Last week, we reported that Kazunori Yamauchi had delayed GT Sport which was originally scheduled to be released during this holiday season to now sometime in 2017.

Fans of the game that have pre-ordered the game through the Playstation Store have been receiving messages through their PSN account that the pre-orders have been cancelled. We have included the whole letter below:

“Thank you for pre-ordering Gran Turismo Sport from PlayStation®Store. On 30th August 2016 we regrettably announced that the release of Gran Turismo Sport has been delayed until 2017. We do not have a new release date at this time. We have, therefore, decided to cancel your pre-order and refund your pre-order payment. This refund may take up to 7-10 days to be processed. Please keep a record of this message for future reference.

Once we have a new release date for Gran Turismo Sport we will offer a revised pre-order for it on the PlayStation®Store at the earliest opportunity. Thank you for your custom and please accept our apologies for any inconvenience caused.”

Delays are not exactly uncommon, but to delay pre-orders is rare unless the game itself is being cancelled. Other games that have been delayed for the Playstation 4 such as Uncharted 4 and even more recently, Final Fantasy XV, none of the pre-orders of the for-mentioned titles were cancelled.

We do not know for sure whether the game will be cancelled, as of press time, pre-orders are still being taken by most other retailers including Amazon, Best Buy and others.  They are either showing the end of year holding date or not available. We will keep you up to date on  the latest new of Grand Turismo Sport.
