We know the game has been out for a couple of days, but we wanted to show how the local launch event for Gears of War 3 went.

The event started around 8pm Monday, September 19th. The game went on sale at midnight and went very smoothly. Other sponsors who for the event were Buffalo Wild Wings, Jimmy Johns, Sprint, and McAlister’s Deli.

There was a big turnout, and there were people hanging around, talking and exchanging  gamertags and whatnot. The customers checked out the latest phones from Sprint, ate Jimmy Johns subs, wings from Buffalo Wild Wings and had tea from McAlister’s.

The other highlight of the evening was the Gears of War 2 Tournament. The tournament was setup in the store and the 55 inch TV’s were provided by the local Rent A Center.

Getting things set up for the Tournament

The prizes for the tournament included a copy of the game and The limited edition art book that is only available in the Epic Edition. The art books were provided my Epic Games, Microsoft and Real Otaku Gamer.  We will giveaway copies of the art books on the Real Otaku Gamer website and other outlets.

Halfway through the tournament.

After the dust settled, and a winner was crowned, it was around midnight. Now it is time for everyone to get their hands on the game. The employees started bringing out the Epic Editions, the Console Bundles and the Lancers from the back. As the excitement grew as boxes were coming out on the floor, people started saying “I should have gotten the Epic Edition and The Lancer”.

"That will look real good on my wall"
"I will take 1 of each of those please."

All in all a good time was had by all, and all the transactions went very smooth and everyone happy and everyone went home or called into to work the next morning with the Phoenix Syndrome.

Stay tuned to Real Otaku Gamer for more of the fall 2011 Launch Parties.
