Natsume, Inc., a worldwide developer and publisher of family-oriented video games have announced that River City: Rival Showdown, known in Japan as Downtown Nekketsu Monogatari SP,  will launch digitally and at retail this November for the Nintendo 3DS with an MSRP of $29.99. The retail version will include a limited edition keychain as a gift with purchase while supplies last.

“We are very excited for players to battle their way through River City: Rival Showdown,” said Hiro Maekawa, President and CEO of Natsume. “The River City franchise has changed a lot since when it first debuted, but our fans will be happy to see classic Kunio-Kun elements in this new game as well.”

River City: Rival Showdown, released in Japan to celebrate the Kunio-Kun series’ 30th anniversary, takes the original story of River City Ransom and adds multiple story paths, multiple endings, and a dynamic fighting system that evolves the Kunio-Kun series in a new, exciting direction!

One night, Kunio is attacked by two mysterious individuals. On top of that, Riki’s girlfriend has disappeared, and it’s up to Kunio to find out the truth! Kunio has just 3 days to unravel the mystery, and he’ll need your help to take down all who stand in his way. Take on some familiar faces from the River City games and meet new ones in this fast-paced beat-’em-up RPG.

River City: Rival Showdown will feature:

Its great to hear about this game coming to the west. The Kunio Kun series is a beloved one and to see this celebration title coming outside of Japan, is great for the fans.
