John Cena, WWE wrestler who has since turned to acting, is in talks to star in a big screen adaptation of the video game series Duke Nukem.  This is being developed at Paramount and will be produced by Platinum Dunes, the company run by Michael Bay, Andrew Form and Brad Fuller.

This is being designed as a vehicle for Cena, but no director is attached just yet.

The Duke Nukem series is known for its irreverent tone and politically incorrect nature. Combined with the production work of Platinum Dunes, it doesn’t seem that out of place. Cena will not be the first WWE wrestler attached to an adaptation of a first person shooter game, as Dwayne Johnson aka The Rock, starred in the adaptation of Doom. Johnson notably had a series of matches with Cena in the last few years, that attracted much attention.

Is Cena the right choice for Duke? Let us know what you think!

No GravatarAfter being in development hell for 14 years, Duke Nukem Forever found a savior in the form of Gearbox Software, who announced a release of May 3 for the US version and May 6 internationally.

Now it seems that the Duke is getting yet another delay, for one month. The delay was announced in a video by Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford, who made tongue-in-cheek references to Duke Nukem Forever’s protracted development cycle and repeatedly announced release dates.

“I’m very sorry for the delay. We’ve all been working extremely hard and are very eager to deliver the game to you,” Pitchford said in a public statement.

Duke Nukem Forever is currently slated for a June 10 international release, and a US release of June 14.
