The Nintendo Switch has sold extremely well in Japan over the last few weeks and that has led to some surprising results. FIFA 18 on Switch has received a major upswing in terms of sales. According to figures from Dengeki Online, FIFA 18 sold 16,006 copies on Switch in Japan last week, whereas it was typically selling between 2,000 and 6,000 per week before last week.

Also worth noting is that the PS4 version of FIFA 18 has sold 77,892 copies in total for Japan, with the Switch version currently at 63,379 copies. Considering that the PS4 version has disappeared off Dengeki’s charts, meaning the game’s sales have dropped below what they track, the Switch version could overtake PS4.

As we all await the release of the next beloved chapter of Star Wars in Star Wars: The Last Jedi™, we here at EA Capital Games have been working on updating one of its iconic characters on the holotable.

We are proud to present a new, limited event for players to jump into just as soon as they exit the movie theaters. Rey’s Hero’s Journey, which introduces The Last Jedi incarnation of Rey (Jedi Training) to Star Wars™: Galaxy of Heroes is available now.

The limited event, Rey’s Hero’s Journey, introduces The Last Jedi incarnation of Rey (Jedi Training), where she assumes the role of a potent protector for the Resistance faction. While the faction has been known to feature strong attackers and support characters, Rey will be the first who takes the role of keeping others healthy by granting allies Foresight to evade attacks and keeping allies cleansed of debuffs,

But keeping the Resistance healthy is only part of Rey’s unique abilities in-game. Rey (Jedi Training) will wreak havoc on enemies by inflicting multiple debuffs and assisting in heavy target damage. The Last Jedi incarnation of Rey, also comes with a Leadership ability, offering players an alternative to Finn’s Leadership ability for more varied gameplay options.

A supposed classification from Brazil has indicated that Burnout Paradise may be coming to Switch.

The Enemy claims that the listing is real, though it is no longer in the database. Either it was removed because the information should not have been public or it was possibly fake.

What do you all think? The game was rated for PS4 and Xbox One in Brazil according to a leak yesterday so could this be real?

Could this be a sign that more western third party support is coming to Switch from those who were reluctant before? or do you think its fake.

The state of Hawaii will be investigating EA and other companies under claims of predatory practices. This is with regards to Loot Boxes and whether or not they are forcing gambling onto consumers.

This is a major event, because government has not intervened to this extent in gaming in decades. Hopefully some positives will come out of this.

Electronic Arts Inc. (NASDAQ: EA) announced today an agreement to acquire Respawn Entertainment, LLC, a leading independent game development studio and creators of AAA shooter and action games including the critically-acclaimed Titanfall™ franchise. Respawn brings to EA the proven leadership and studio talent behind Titanfall and Titanfall 2, two of the most highly-rated shooter titles in the last five years. The acquisition builds on a successful publishing partnership between Respawn and EA, with multiple projects currently in development – a new title in the Titanfall franchise, a game set in the Star Wars™ universe and a VR gaming experience.

“We’ve seen firsthand the world-class caliber of Respawn as a development studio with incredible vision, deep talent and an inspiring creative mindset,” said Andrew Wilson, CEO of Electronic Arts. “Our longtime partnership is grounded in a shared desire to push the boundaries and deliver extraordinary and innovative new experiences for players around the world. Together, we’ve brought this to life in the Titanfall franchise, and now with the Respawn team joining EA, we have exciting plans to accomplish even more amazing things in the future.”

“We started Respawn with the goal to create a studio with some of the best talent in the industry, and to be a top developer of innovative games,” said Vince Zampella, CEO of Respawn Entertainment. “We felt that now was the time to join an industry leader that brings the resources and support we need for long term success, while still keeping our culture and creative freedom. EA has been a great partner over the years with Titanfall and Titanfall 2, and we’re excited to combine our strengths. This is a great next step for Respawn, EA, and our players.”

Respawn is the creator and developer of the critically-acclaimed Titanfall franchise that energized the first-person shooter genre with its innovative gameplay. The first game, Titanfall, was published by EA in 2014, and received global recognition with more than 75 top awards. Fans and critics fell in love with the game’s refreshing, fast-paced multiplayer gameplay. Respawn and EA launched Titanfall 2 in late 2016, with a new single-player campaign and expanded multiplayer gameplay, resulting in one of the year’s top-rated shooters.

Respawn will join EA’s Worldwide Studios organization, a global creative collective of leading game development studios bringing to life an unmatched portfolio of top games and services across all major platforms.

Under the agreement, EA will pay $151 million in cash, and up to $164 million in long-term equity in the form of restricted stock units to employees, which will vest over four years. In addition, EA may be required to pay additional variable cash consideration that is contingent upon achievement of certain performance milestones, relating to the development of future titles, through the end of calendar 2022. The additional consideration is limited to a maximum of $140 million. The transaction is expected to close by the end of the calendar 2017 or soon thereafter, subject to regulatory approvals and other customary closing conditions. The acquisition is expected to be neutral to EA’s net income in fiscal years 2018 and 2019.

This was not unexpected news. EA has been working closely with Respawn and this was just a matter of time. Hopefully the future is bright for this partnership.

We’ve made changes to crates and progression based on player’s feedback. The Star Wars Battlefront II beta gave us a welcome chance to test all of our systems in action and tune things up for better balance. A few weeks ago, we mentioned we were going to take another look at how the progression system works and after incorporating community feedback, we’re happy to share our plans for launch:

  • Epic Star Cards, the highest tier of Star Cards available at launch, have been removed from Crates
  • You’ll need to reach a certain rank to craft upgraded Star Cards
  • Weapons are locked behind specific milestones
  • Class-specific gear and items can be unlocked by playing as them

We’ll be continuously looking at player feedback to help fine tune and improve this system and others in the game, as we’re committed to keeping the community together including releasing all post-launch content for free and going to make sure that the game is fun for everyone.

These are welcome changes as there were many complaints about the loot crate system. It is good that they are listening to fans and will not just rush blindly into a bad decision.
