Today Electronic Arts Inc. (NASDAQ: EA) revealed New England Patriots quarterback and five-time Super Bowl Champion Tom Brady will grace the cover of EA SPORTS Madden NFL 18 when it launches worldwide on Friday, August 25. This year’s game will be powered by Frostbite, one of the industry’s world-class game engines, creating a Madden NFL experience like you’ve never seen before. Frostbite delivers a significant visual leap not only to the players, but crowds, stadiums and more. Such a special game truly deserves an equally-special cover athlete.

The Madden NFL cover was one of the few career accolades that had previously eluded Brady, and now he adds the honor alongside his multiple NFL championships, MVP awards, Pro Bowl appearances and more. This also marks the first time in Madden NFL history that teammates have graced the cover in back-to-back years, after last year’s game featured Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski.

“The Madden NFL 18 cover is a great honor for me,” said Brady. “Especially since I have been playing the game since growing up next to EA headquarters in the Bay Area. I’m not one to believe in curses, so I’m ready to take the challenge head on like always! It doesn’t stand a chance!!!”

Those eager to hear more about Madden NFL 18 won’t have to wait long, as new details about the game, including a brand-new mode, are set to debut at EA PLAY on June 10. Fans can expect to see big things in this year’s title, including new ways to play, and some of the greatest innovation in a generation.

In addition to the cover news, EA also announced pre-order offers for two distinct editions of Madden NFL 18. Fans who pre-order the standard edition will receive numerous benefits*, including the choice of an Elite player from their favorite NFL team for use in Madden NFL 18 Ultimate Team, as well as five Squad Packs, redeemable at launch. In celebration of the Greatest of All-Time, those looking for even more can opt for the G.O.A.T. Edition, which gets them not only what’s in the standard edition, but also one of five G.O.A.T. players of their choice for Madden NFL 18 Ultimate Team, and more.

Fans can also play the finished game before launch day: G.O.A.T. Edition owners get three-day early access, letting them start their season on Tuesday, August 22, while EA Access members can play for up to 10 hours starting Thursday, August 17 with the EA Access Play First Trial.**

This weekend also marks the finals of the Madden Championship, the culmination of the first year of Madden NFL’s competitive gaming series. The top-ranked competitors of the series are all vying for their share of the $500,000 prize pool, and the right to be named the Madden NFL Champion. The 2017 Madden Championship airs live on NFL Network, Twitch, Facebook and YouTube this Sunday, May 14 at 9:00pm ET, with a re-air on NFL Network the same night at 12:00am ET. Fans can also get full coverage from the weekend on the Madden NFL website.

Madden NFL 18 is developed in Orlando, Florida by EA Tiburon and will be available worldwide on August 25 for Xbox One and PlayStation®4.

EA Access members receive a 10 percent discount** when they purchase a digital version of the Madden NFL 18 on Xbox Live.

Have you been missing that creative urge? Today Maxis announced The Sims Mobile, an all-new Sims experience that leverages the player’s power of imagination to create Sims and play with life.

Developed by the creators of The Sims and SimCity franchises, The Sims Mobile is inspired by The Sims 4 Legacy Challenge, encouraging players to build a successful multi-generational family, while unlocking and collecting unique Heirlooms along the way. As players progress, these powerful Heirlooms offer different gameplay benefits that help Sims achieve their Life Goals throughout the game.

In The Sims Mobile, players can also interact with their real-life friends in a whole new way. Their Sims can host and attend parties, develop relationships as best friends, nemeses, soul mates, and more with their real-life friends’ Sims, and share in big moments together in the game. From creating amazing Sims and shaping their Sims’ stories, to collecting valuable rewards and sharing experiences with friends, the options to play with life are endless.

The Sims Mobile is now available on iOS and Android devices as a free download in Brazil, with other regions to follow. Meanwhile, Sims fans and mobile gamers worldwide can look forward to its official launch coming soon.

It is always great to see The Sims franchise continue in new ways. Will Wright’s iconic game series has gone through many forms, but it is perfect for mobile devices. I can see this doing very well.

EA may not be bringing much to the Nintendo Switch currently, with only a FIFA port planned but that might be changing soon. At the company’s investors’ conference, EA executives revealed the company is excited about the Nintendo Switch, mostly due to its high sales.  As such EA is revising their plan for Switch.

EA is now considering bringing more titles to the Nintendo Switch. This isn’t a confirmation of anything yet, and nothing was announced, but it is noteworthy that western 3rd parties are staring to revise their opinions of Nintendo due to the Switch’s success. If the sales keep up, more publishers may start coming on board.

EA sent out the following

Today, Respawn revealed Colony Reborn, the next free DLC update available to all Titanfall 2 players. Starting March 30th, players can re-visit Colony – a fan favorite map from the first Titanfall that is filled with narrow streets, interiors, and rooftops. In addition to Colony, players can try out an all-new Pilot execution, Curb Check pilot, as well as the new R-101 carbine, all for free!

In addition to the new free content, Titanfall 2 players can also purchase new cosmetic items including Prime skins for Northstar and Legion, new Camos, Callsigns, and more.

To celebrate the launch of Colony Reborn, Respawn will be kicking off another free trial weekend. Starting March 30, those yet to experience the power of Titanfall 2 can enjoy elements of the game’s critically-acclaimed single player. This includes The Beacon, one of the missions from the main campaign, as well as the Training Gauntlet. In addition to introducing single-player content to the trial, players will also have access to all multiplayer maps and modes. The Titanfall 2 free trial weekend will end on Monday, April 3, at which point the multiplayer portion of the trial will no longer be available. However, the single player content from the trial will still be available post-April 3.

Titanfall 2 has been under the radar compared to other big name games, which is a shame as it is a major improvement over the original. Hopefully this new content and the free weekend will help bring in more players.

Mega Man Legacy Collection producer and director Frank Cifaldi  revealed during an interview with The Watch podcast that his company Digital Eclipse are working on a new Capcom game compilation and it could be announced relatively soon.

 Cifaldi stated

I shipped a collection called Mega Man Legacy Collection the year before last (it’s been a while), and we’ve got another one coming out soon that they’re gonna announce any day now. I don’t know when – I wish I could talk about it but it’s really cool.

It is not yet known if this is Mega Man related or not, but it is worth noting that this is the 30th anniversary of Mega Man this year. Could this be an X collection? We shall see soon.

No GravatarAfter 10 years at EA, Peter Moore will be leaving this year to join Liverpool Football Club as its new chief executive officer. Moore will begin in June and report directly to the club’s owners, Fenway Sports Group.

During his 10 years at EA, he was in a number of leadership positions, including chief operating officer and president of EA SPORTS, notably managing the FIFA series. This is a big change for EA and will lead to some big changeups being made at the company.
