When Broforce won PS+ vote to play, I was excited and eager to play it. What I got was not what I was expecting.

Broforce is like a cross between Contra and Spelunky done as an adaptation of The Expendables. You play as characters such as Rambro, Commanbro, Bro Hard and the Brodator ( you can see where this is going) among others, and use their abilities to kill the bad guys, cause lots of explosions and carnage and rescue your friends. For the first few levels, this is a fun game and it seemed fine even if the controller stopped working right every so often. I thought I could handle it…..How wrong I was.

Broforce on PS4 is completely broken, the controller has massive input delay and sometimes won’t respond at all, which can lead to dying in a jump, dying walking into enemy fire, or just not shooting your weapon. It gets worse as you progress with slowdown and framerate drops into single digits. The further I got, the more unplayable it was. It eventually got to the point that I gave up in frustration and stopped playing.

I wanted to like this game, since on PC this is one of the best games I ever played. On PS4 however, its still broken after a patch tried to fix it. I would say get it while its free on PS+ and wait till it gets fixed. I would not pay money for it in its current form. The fun factor that is present in the early levels completely fades a few levels in. I wanted this to be good and even voted for it and I regret that.  This needs another patch or two before it will be anywhere near playable. It just is a bad experience really, and I feel bad for people who are experiencing this for the first time and don’t realize what a good game this actually is on PC. As of now, this game isn’t really Broforce, its more like Brokeport.

Bejeweled 2 can easily be called a game that most hardcore or casual gamers have at least tried before. The game is widely available and has seen its share of different looks and style. The game has been available on almost every platform imaginable including mobile cell phones. This can easily called one of Popcaps “Jewel” games.

The Bejeweled gameplay concept is very simple, match 3 in a row of the same color to clear those specific Jewels off. Better yet, if you where to match more the 3 special items are created.  Matching 4 provides a bomb that clears out a small cluster of Jewels. 5  Provides an item when combined with a jewel, destroys every other jewel of the same color off the board. Finally 6 created an electrical jewel that shoots an electrical current in 4 directions destroying everything in its path.

Bejeweled2 4
The point of the game varies on the mode you are playing the game in. In Classic mode, players must complete a progress bar. The higher the clearing combo, the faster the progress bar fills. Each time the progress bar is filled, players advance to the next stage. Careful though, if your combos arent pulled carefully you might end up in a bind with no possible moves, at that point its game over and have to start over from stage one.

bejeweled-2-20090129093912258-2731896_320w
The other modes in the game include Action, Puzzle and endless mode. Action mode allows you to enter your top scores, this in turn allows you to compete with others to get the highest score possible. In Puzzle mode you are presented with… well…. puzzles. Boards are presented to players and players must complete the board with a certain amount of moves allowed. Endless is… well… endless…. play until you cant play no more!

Overall Popcap does a great job with their games, they know exactly how to reach out to gamers of all sorts. They are fully aware of what they are doing when it comes down to a specific group of people to target. Bejeweled is a game series that will be here for the long run. They have so much room to apply different aspect to always make the game seem refreshed. I wouldnt doubt seeing new ways to play in the near future along with new items and power ups.

No GravatarThis is one of the most phenomenal games I’ve ever played ever. This is a diamond in the rough. To me this was one of SquareSoft’s best games ever.

The games story revolves around these mysterious items called Relics. Relics are magical items that all have different powers and properties. The two 2 protagonists, Rue trying to Resurrect a dead friend and Mint trying to rule the world. Both of their personalities are vastly different, which fit the game perfect for the other characters and antagonist they meet.

The gameplay is pretty solid and simple with a few flaws. Its a platform/hack-and-slash game, if you were to compare it to another game the best way to compare it is Kingdom Hearts 1. The menu in this game you never ever really need to go to. You buy items to increase your attack and defense but that’s about it. No potions or elixirs, but if you die you can use these coins you can buy or find to bring you back to life with a certain MP. Character skills vary for whoever you play with. Rue can transform into enemies he defeats and gain there abilities and attacks, while Mint gains magic throughout the story and finding scrolls. An interesting concept with the game is the Health/Magic system. The more you get hit the more your total HP increases, where as the more you use magic the more your total MP goes up. The A.I. isn’t really anything to worry about, pretty simple and bosses aren’t too hard or annoying.

The bad thing about the gameplay is the camera angle. Depending on your area you can be in a 2D, Streets of Rage like area, or full 3D, to a Crash Bandicoot like angles. With the camera switching it can make jumps harder then it needs to be. If you can get past that you will enjoy this game like no other if you cant…then you wont.

The visuals for a PSX game are pretty good. Every character and npc have the same physical attributes just scaled smaller or larger. No go into cutscene then cutscene graphics (all the same graphics) The special effects for the game are nice but not astounding. The explosion effects aren’t top notch either. The buildings and atmosphere aren’t too bad for a PSX game but nothing amazing.

Now the music, however, will grab you and fit every situation you tend to be in during the game. Every single area of the game has a different music or musics depending on the stage. Also the boss music changes and gets more epic to show the extremeness of the fight going on.

I went out of order but I have to rebring up the story. The plot twist and character development are amazing. How different every character in the game is, is just amazing. One of the bosses is a guy that reads books, and his power is to be able to learn whatever he reads and its characters like that that just compelled me to play the game even more. I love seeing actual legit character development in games instead of a powerup or another mode but actual progression. The game just makes you feel accomplished to play it.

The replay value is high for this game as well. After you beat it you can play the game again with the other character to get the true/final ending!. AND after THAT you can play the game again with your super powered up/powerful characters.

In conclusion. I definitely say if you like RPG/action/platformers this is for you without a doubt.
Gameplay: 8/10
Graphics: 8/10
Music: 9/10
Replay Value: 9/10
To be completely honest I am going to give this game 2 total grades. The first one is for the game as a whole. If you can get past the camera angle then it gets a 8/10 but, if you cant then it gets a 6.5/10.

With the release of Assassins Creed III fast approaching this October 30th, Ubisoft has released a neat interactive trailer through YouTube to hold off fans until the main day. Think of it as one those choose your path books… but better. No worries, I won’t spoil the trailer with small description below. More of my thought after the trailer below.

The  trailer starts off  in Bunker Hill, with a very famous speech being presented, that’s if you actually paid attention in history class. Like any other Assassins Creed, Connor Kenway (Main Character), is presented with an assassination. Along the way there is a few guards that he has to fight through to get to his target.

Well instead of talking about it, why not give it a shot?

I played though it and attempted all the scenarios. There doesn’t seem to be a wrong way of doing. It just shows the many abilities and possibilities for the game and how to attack or assassinate a target. Don’t forget the game comes out this October 3oth and will be widely available on Xbox 360, PS3 and Wii U.
