No GravatarThe final DLC character for season 1 of KOF XIV has been revealed and it is one that fans have wanted for a long time. Yes, Rock Howard will make his main series KOF debut.

Rock Howard made his debut in the last chapter of the Fatal Fury series, Garou: Mark Of The Wolves, and this release will mark his first appearance in a mainline KOF title. He is the estranged son of crime lord Geese Howard, having been adopted and raised by Terry Bogard from a young age. His fighting style is a unique mix of both Terry and Geese’s styles and he even boasts his own variations on some of their iconic moves, such as Geese’s Raging Storm and Terry’s Buster Wolf. His Crack Counter, for example, combines the reversal techniques from Geese’s Aikijutsu moves with Terry’s Crack Shoot attack.

This melding of styles results in a well-rounded fighter. He sacrifices both Geese’s dominating power and Terry’s simple and direct style for speed and versatility, creating a unique approach that stands on its own despite borrowing heavily from two disparate fighters.

As you can see in the above trailer, Rock Howard and all of his techniques have been dutifully recreated in KOF XIV with some slight adjustments to fit the new battle system.
The development team aimed to make his transition as faithful as possible, including small details such as how his shirt and jacket animates during his idle animation!

All characters from the DLC will be available on April 5 2017. The BGM and Stage DLC will be free, while the characters will cost money.

Rock looks absolutely amazing and is a very welcome addition to the roster.

No GravatarSNK and Atlus have revealed the next DLC character for King of Fighters XIV. Vanessa, the beautiful brawler, makes her return to the fight.

Vanessa was a fan requested character, so it is great to see her return to the fight. Now all that is left is the last character. Who could it be?

April 5 is a great release date, not too far away and it lets us build up anticipation for the character.  Whip will cost $4.99 on release which is a very good and fair price. I love what SNK is doing with the game’s DLC, and I hope we get the rest of the reveals and release dates soon.

See the trailer below.

Whip looks excellent to play as, and should be a lot of fun. Whom do you think the other DLC characters might be? Let us know!

It has been revealed that The King of Fighters XIV will be getting a Day One patch when it releases next week. The patch will mostly deal with tweaks and some online and balancing. Also worth noting is that the Fuzzy Guard Instant Overhead will be patched out in the future.

Lead designer Hidetoshi Ishizawa, more commonly known as Neo_G has tweeted some details about the upcoming day one patch.

Among these changes are some additional tweaks to the game’s online play. Whether or not he’s referring to the game’s actual netcode (which early reports have stated as being quite good), or if these are just adjustments to the online modes, is not yet known.

More interesting however is the fact that the day one patch will also contain some balance changes. This means that gameplay and balance impressions that players who have acquired from early copies of the game–through the broken street date–will be outdated at launch. For interested players, these balance changes will be previewed at the premier events that SNK is holding in Tokyo and Osaka this weekend.

No GravatarAtlus and SNK have released the final team trailers for The King of Fighters XIV. Here we have Team Women Fighters which includes newcomer Alice.

Team K’ appears to have all the right tools and skills to go the distance, but can they withstand the awesome might of girl power? That’s because Team Women Fighters plans to win the tournament in spectacular fashion just because they can. First off, we have the iconic ninja Mai Shiranui! The only thing more dangerous than her looks is her skill with Shiranui-ryuu Ninjutsu and ability to create fire. She may act like a totally ditz, but that’s just so she can lure enemies into a false sense of security before thrashing them with masterful ninja techniques. Next up, we have the hard-hitting bartender King. Although King can whip up a deliciously dangerous Mai Tai, she prides herself on whipping opponents in the ring with her deadly Muay Thai strikes. Don’t sleep on her, unless you want to get rudely awoken by some ‘bows to the face.  The last piece of the team is the bubbly Alice who models her fighting style after her idols Terry and Andy Bogard and Joe Higashi. Although she might not emulate their styles perfectly, she’s still a very capable fighter who hits opponents so hard that money flies out of their pockets! It’s safe to say that Team Women fighters have one of the best shots at the tournament belt.

You can check out the trailer below.

No GravatarAtlus and SNK have released the final two team trailers for the King of Fighters XIV. First up we have Team K’

Team K’ is comprised of elite fighters who used to be members of nefarious Illuminati-type syndicate known as NESTS.  The team’s presumed leader is the cyborg weapon Maxima who will do everything in his power to shut down the evil organization. This includes assaulting tournament opponents with strikes, grappling moves, and advanced weaponry. You don’t want to mess with him, and his teammate K’ is quite the dangerous fighter as well. While K’ doesn’t have cybernetic enhancements, he has been infused with the DNA of Kyo Kusanagi which allows him to control fire. His self taught pure violence style of fighting, coupled with his affinity for flames, makes him a good teammate to watch your back. Lastly, we have the ice skating ice queen Kula Diamond! Originally trained to assassinate K’, Kula has flipped the script and now joins the fight to bring down NESTS. She’s an extremely dangerous combatant who wields ice powers and fights with an Anti-K’ style (makes sense), and will help the team do whatever it takes to complete their task.

Check out the trailer here

No GravatarAtlus and SNK have released a new trailer for The King Of Fighters XIV. This time Team Another World is shown off in all their glory.

An ominous being is en route to the tournament, so this has spurred Team Another World to enter our realm and save it before all is lost.
Does this trio of interdimensional heroines have what it takes? Leading the team is the Maiden of Light from Samurai Showdown, Nakoruru! She gathered Team Another World and traveled through time and space to THE KING OF FIGHTERS XIV tournament. This nature loving Ainu priestess is sure handy with a sword, and cuts through opponents with her Dancing Sword Arts of the Shikanna-Kamui style. Believe it or not, swordplay is NOT her most dangerous weapon. Oh no, her most dangerous asset is her wonderfully named pet hawk Mamahaha. For example, Mamahaha can dive bomb enemies and pick Nako up into the air to confuse/terrorize opponents. Although Nakoruru is a peace loving gal, she’ll introduce adversaries to a world of hurt  if necessary. Next up we have Mui Mui, a member of a legendary ancient Chinese clan who fights with a powerful Kung Fu style. Even though she’s small in stature, the dragon blood running through her veins gifts her with great strength rivaled only by her voracious appetite. Mui Mui used to protect her clan’s treasure in her world, but accepted Nakoruru’s plea for help in order to track down this being. She won’t go home until the job’s done, but at least she’ll be able to enjoy some of this  realms delicious food. The final member of Team Another World is the Peace Pirate Love Heart. Before being selected onto the team, she was busy seeking vengeance  against the Skull Pirates for killing her father. Love Heart is a powerful combatant who fights with a sword and great skill, and wants to help finish Nakoruru’s questas soon as possible to get back to her task.
Will the heroines from Team Another World save our world?

This is a really cool looking team and I am looking forward to the game! Check out the Trailer below.
