The game is played with a bird’s eye view, and there is only so much detail in the world.
In time trials, players are tasked with racing around a track as fast as possible. By maneuvering skillfully, it is possible to get around the track. Figuring out the fastest route and mastering brakeless driving, the player will achieve the quickest time. There is also a pit stop where players can fix up their car in case they have smashed the sides too many times. This a good fail safe, especially when learning the ropes of the game. It is also good to note that players will face ghosts of themselves if they attempt the trial again.
Races are where things heat up, as players are forced to take on opponents. These races can be done against computers who have mastered the skills necessary and are quite devilish. Facing these foes before learning how it’s done is not easy. It is better to take on time trials and figure out the basics first before jumping in to this. Races are also playable with friends and rules can be set to the player’s will. Racing is where this game shines as playing with computers or friends always makes for a more enjoyable experience. This game is quite chaotic when playing with friends as no one will have true control of their vehicle. This leads to interesting challenges and fun viewing for those not playing.
Brakes are For Losers is a great game for those who enjoy racing games. While it might not have well known characters to draw attention to it, it is worth playing. The nature of the brakeless style leads to fun and a challenge that exceeds other games of the same style. It is quite different playing a game where brakes don’t come into play. Personally, I have never been too keen on racing games, so this game really is difficult. But, for racing fans, I am sure that players will enjoy themselves. Brakes are For Losers is a rather fun racing game out now for Nintendo Switch. If the player enjoys racing without any sort of aid then this game might just be the one for them.
