Konami has announced a new game for arcades surprisingly. Bombergirl is a 4v4 co-op game where players team up to defeat an enemy base, with 4 arcade cabinets side by side. The art style has a very strong anime look, which will no doubt be off-putting to some.
However, before people get angry, allow me to play devil’s advocate. This game, while being extremely different from a true Bomberman game, is not necessarily a bad thing. Konami is trying new things, yes, but this is still a real game and not a pachinko game. As well, we have a true Bomberman game coming in under a month, so there isn’t a need to be angry about this.
To me, this game represents Konami trying to get back into game and starting to atone for their poor actions in recent years, such as severely mistreating employees and ruining franchises and games. I will say though, that while I am willing to give Konami a small chance to win back their fans, I will state that they have a lot of work to do before they get the fans back. We should let them try to win us back, but not let them off the hook for what they did in the past.
