Matt Dahlgren from Capcom was asked about the possibility of a new edition for Street Fighter V coming out. Many fans want one simply for rebranding purposes to save the game. However he has confirmed that will not be happening.

“We’re always looking at how we can innovate on the series’ model, while keeping an eye on how receptive fans would be to a new type of offering for a Street Fighter game,” said Dhalgren. “Street Fighter 5 innovated on the series’ model by being a service-based platform, with earnable post launch content.

“Even now, the price point of the main retail offering has dropped, which is essentially the starter version of the game. However, even if we come up with new models, we are still committed to our promise that the initial release is still the only version you’ll ever need to own with all game updates and balance adjustments available for free,” he finished.

This is inline with what Capcom had said earlier about Street Fighter V. They want to make the game a service based platform where players can earn the DLC through grinding. However, I must find myself agreeing with those who feel a new edition may help. SF V has become somewhat tainted among those who haven’t played it yet, and a rebranding of the game might be what is needed to fix things.
