Delta Force X2 Boxshot for PCSince then named Nordic Games purchased bankrupt THQ’s library, many fans were worried what would happen to some of the company’s favorite franchises. So far with games such as Darksiders among others have been well received, THQ Nordic has seemed to win back fans and new ones. The company has now just announced that they have expanded their IP library by purchasing all games and projects that was owned by Novalogic Inc..

Novalogic Inc. was founded in central London by John Garcia in 1985 and became a developer and publisher of games for the PC, the original Playstation, Playstation 2, Nintendo Gamecube and Xbox. Though the company was privately owned, Electronic Arts became an outside shareholder. The company’s main success was the technology that they developed to help acheive the most realistic environments, graphics and gameplay. This was seen in franchises like Delta Force and Comanche.

Though the company was successful in the gaming industry, thier technology came to the attention of the United States government and was used for both civilian and military training. They continue to have partnerships with defense contractors like Boeing, Lockheed Martin and Sikorsky. Due to these partnerships the gaming side of the company began to be ignored and the company has not released anything new since the NovaWorld game service in 1997.

Today’s announcement results in THQ Nordic acquiring Novalogic’s logo, and the fanchises listed below:

  • Delta Force Series
  • Comanche Series
  • Joint Operations Series
  • Armored Fist Series
  • Tachyon: The Fringe
  • F-22 – Series
  • F-16 Series

It is also listed that they listed …and more, but what that exactly means, we will have to wait and see. Perhaps Novalogic had been working on new versions of the above listed franchises or even a new IP altogether.

“After 30 years of creating ground breaking Computer and Video Games we are proud to pass the baton to THQ Nordic. As individuals, they are enthusiastic gamers and as a company have shown the agility and acumen needed to propel our industry towards a much-needed reset”, comments John Garcia, owner, founder and CEO of NovaLogic Inc. “We are happy to see the franchises we created in such capable hands.”

“NovaLogic pioneered military simulations and military-themed multiplayer shooters with vehicular combat and also clearly targeted at an adult audience,” said Reinhard Pollice, Business and Product Development Director, THQ Nordic. “We are extremely satisfied with the new additions to our portfolio, and also very thrilled about how to continue some of said franchises, we are open for talks in this regard if any developer approaches us with a concept for a potential sequel to any IP.”

The newest generation of consoles has been missing a realistic first person military themed game, perhaps THQ Nordic can now make that happen with this acquisition.
