Have you ever wanted to see what the world would be like if Russia was truly king? Well, in Black the Fall you can see an alternate world where Russia has full control. This game tells the story of a rogue agent trying to break free from the communist world. He has plans for the future and it doesn’t stay within the guidelines of what the Russians want. This game is a dystopian spy game, in which you have to use your wits to escape a truly dangerous situation. Everyone is out to get you in this game except for a lone robot you meet in the beginning. In a world where all of the robots are also after your hide, it is going to be interesting to see you and this other rebel, against all that stand against you.

Black the Fall is a stylish game, that blends shadows and the color red to make truly dangerous locales. There is the occasisonal burst of outside color, but you will always most likely find yourself in a place you really don’t want to be in. Being in this terrifying situation makes everything far more tense and that is certainly a good thing. One wrong move and you will most certainly need to start the section over.

Black the Fall’s red color hides things from you in a way that will actually trick your mind. It’s interesting seeing how things go unnoticed when there is so much red littering the surroundings. You never know what you need to do next until you look closely and see it for yourself. The red comes in many forms, from spot lights, to lasers, and even to the faces of the guards. Everything and everyone wants you dead, and you are going to realize that as soon as you boot up the game.

Black the Fall is a game unlike anything I’ve played in awhile. A truly unique game that shows a world I don’t think anyone would want to live in. A world where work is all that can save you from a merciless death. Where even the people who are supposed to be looking out for you don’t care if you die, as you will replaced in an instant. This game reminds us that the world can be turned on its head if the powers that be wish it so. Here’s hoping the world doesn’t become this bad in the future.

Black the Fall is out now on Switch and if you have any inclination to play it, I suggest you do so. If you are looking for a dystopian thrilling puzzler than this game is certainly for you. Now, is the time to save the trapped man, and let him live life by his own rules. Without you, he will just be another pawn in a brutal game where no one, especially him will ever win with their life.
