It’s finally time for King Knight to make his Shovel Knight appearance in his own playable story. A beloved rival to the heroic Shovel Knight finally gets his time in the spotlight. This game is a fantastic new entry in the Shovel Knight Saga and plays as perfectly as it always did. With a new adventure to take on and a new playstyle, King of Cards does add some new things to the mix. King Knight doesn’t have a shovel so players will have to use his dash attack to the best of their ability. He has a lot of weight to his body so it shouldn’t be hard using it to perfection. King Knight is a man with a plan, and he can quickly charge in bouncing off-targets to get air before drilling downward. King Knight is someone who just wants to show the world he has all the power and this style is evident in the game.

King Knight needs to gather gold and treasure. This game is filled to the brim with it, try not to die as the gold will fly out of his kingly coffer Though players can collect it if they get back to their death spot. This king wants all of the treasure so its better to lose none, and make him the wealthiest lord in the land. King Knight might be gathering a lot of wealth but he will also gather other important things. This king is going to find followers to help run his kingdom, and he’s going to need all the help he can get. Plus there are other abilities to unlock and of course different armor colors! This game is filled with collectibles and it is part of the reason the series is still so loved.

This game also comes with challenges and feats for the player to take on. These might include things like boss rematches which can often change things up for the better. There are loads of other things like platforming challenges too. It just goes to show how much work they put into this series, and how loved it is. Shovel Knight King of Cards includes a brand new card game called Joustus. King Knight wants nothing more than to reign supreme in this card game so players are going to have their work cut out for them. Joustus has over 120 different cards for the player to collect and they all feature characters from the game. Joustus itself is a fun diversion from normal gameplay. Players will take turns, battling it out for supremacy. It helps balance the game and shift things from the other versions of the game. Plus it is a lot of fun, and with so many cards to collect players will have reason to continue to play this wonderful game.

This wonderful game also includes a great New Game Plus to keep the fun going. Players can work to increase their wealth and play through the wonderful story anytime. It’s always great for games to include new game pluses, and this one is not to be missed. Who doesn’t want to help a deserving king amass the most wealth possible? It’s great seeing this game continue to get new DLC and I hope they never stop. With the number of characters in the series, there could be many more iterations. I certainly hope they continue to pump out games especially if they are as good as King of Cards. The game itself hasn’t lost its flare and the games do get better and better with each iteration.

King of Cards is a great new version of a beloved game. It has a great story, with a fantastic new character to play as. King Knight will go through a great quest taking down enemies, amassing gold, and becoming the King that Pridemoore deserves. King Knight has a lot to do, is the player going to help him on his arduous quest?
