Capcom has released a new trailer for their upcoming third-person shooter, Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City. While the trailer has no gameplay footage, it shows off not only the different mechanics you will be able to employ, but also the new US Spec Ops team in this balls to the wall, zombie action CGI movie.

The Resident Evil series has been long established and Capcom has not been afraid to take the property in new directions. This time around, you step into the shoes of the Umbrella Secret Service where you and up to three friends battle the zombie invasion to protect Umbrella’s secret. Not only will you have to contend with the undead and horrible monsters, but another faction as well. The US Spec Ops, comprised of Tweed, Dee-Ay, Harley, Willow, Shona and Party Girl (great names right?), are sent in to uncover the truth and expose the culprits responsible for the outbreak. Check out the trailer.

The main showcase is to introduce the new US Spec Ops, however we also get to see some of the new gadgets and gameplay mechanics. Using the bleeding mechanic and pheramone gas can attract zombies to certain locations to swarm human enemies and give yourself or the enemy an advantage. Certain characters have certain abilities as well as we saw with the Predator like camouflage. Many of these mechanics are very new to the Resident Evil series and while some gamers don’t like change to their favorite properties, I think these changes will work well for the series. It’s fast paced co-op action that’s refreshing and still similar if you ever played the Outbreak games. Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City is set to release on March 20, 2012.
