EA sent out the following

Last month, EA SPORTS NHL fans got a first taste of what’s to come for NHL 18 this year at the NHL Awards. Now, NHL 18 is diving deeper into the all-new on-ice gameplay features that are designed to deliver the speed, skill and creativity of today’s young new NHL.

Check out the new Gameplay Features Trailer and look out for specific features deep-dives on the EA SPORTS NHL website.

NHL 18 is upping player’s game on both sides of the puck with Creative Attack controls and an all-new Defensive Skill Stick. Creative Attack gives players the moves to execute Top 10-worthy offensive plays, inspired by what’s being seen in the new NHL. Players can implement one-handed dekes, between-the-legs shots and passes and much more. On defense, NHL 18 introduces the new Defensive Skill Stick, giving defensive players the tools to counter the new skill moves with extended poke checks, targeted stick control, and stick-sweeping to cover a zone.

Players won’t be the only ones using these controls though, as the new Creative Teammate AI leverages all the same deking and passing tools to give opponents a true run for their money. AI Teammates will create smarter plays, leading to more effective moves up and down the ice.

Finally, authentic 3-on-3 matches in EA SPORTS Hockey League introduce a whole new arena with more open ice and risk-vs-reward strategic gameplay.

In addition to gameplay, EA SPORTS NHL today released a full look at the new Adidas jerseys coming to the NHL in the 2017-18 season. See all the new jerseys here.

Aspyr Media and Digital Continue announced today that Next Up Hero is coming to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, PC, Mac, and Linux in early 2018.

Next Up Hero is an arcade action-adventure driven by Community Continue, in which players take turns fighting — and dying — in community game sessions, working to conquer impossibly hard monsters and bosses together, one hero at a time.

Choose from nine heroes with an assortment of weapons and abilities to suit your playstyle, from swords and rocket launchers to laser turrets, bongo drums, and boomerangs. When you die, you’ll leave behind an Echo of your hero on the battlefield. The next in the line of heroes will be able to resurrect your Echo as an AI battle companion. Take turns continuing friends’ games, fighting and dying until you have an entire army of Echoes by your side, and enough strength to finally defeat those jerk monsters. Everyone dies. Heroes continue.

Next Up Hero is the first original game from developer Digital Continue, founded by industry veteran Joe Tringali, the co-founder of 5TH Cell, creators of Scribblenauts, Lock’s Quest and Drawn to Life.

Next Up Hero is being developed with community feedback, beginning with an exclusive closed beta launch at RTX Austin today, and moving to Steam’s Early Access in the fall. Digital Continue will incorporate community ideas to improve characters, modes, weapons, attacks, and enemy types for the final game, launching in early 2018.

This is a unique looking game and one that fans should love. What do you all think of it?

Paradox Interactive, a publisher of best-selling games across many genres and platforms, today announced that Pillars of Eternity, the critically acclaimed role-playing game (RPG) from Obsidian Entertainment, and Cities: Skylines, the smash-hit city-building game from Colossal Order, will both be released for new console platforms later this year. Both award-winning titles have been redesigned for console players with controller-friendly gameplay and UI, and will be available in August for their respective platforms.

Pillars of Eternity, originally the result of a crowdfunding campaign by over 75,000 backers, first released for PC platforms to broad critical acclaim, winning several awards for its rich story and deep, original world. Now, the original game, alongside the expansions The White March – Parts I & II, will be released as Pillars of Eternity: Complete Edition for the PlayStation®4 and Xbox One consoles on August 29, 2017.

Cities: Skylines, the best-selling management game that set sales records at Paradox at launch, will soon be available for the PS4 as Cities: Skylines – PlayStation®4 Edition. The deep gameplay and unique charm have all been refined and optimized for play on a controller, and the new Edition will include the award-winning base game, bundled together with the popular After Dark expansion, allowing players to plan and design for their cities’ nightlife and tourist attractions. Cities: Skylines – PlayStation®4 Edition will launch on August 15, 2017.

“Paradox is renewing its commitment to fans everywhere, no matter where and how they play games,” said Johan Sjöberg, CPO of Paradox Interactive. “Experiences like the ones contained in Pillars of Eternity and Cities: Skylines are the kind that define Paradox as a company: rich, replayable, and very personal. No two players will have the same journey through the story of Pillars, and every city built in Skylines is a unique creation. Everybody should have access to these iconic games, and that’s why we’re working with partners to share them with players on their platforms of choice. It’s the same philosophy that’s driven us to bring titles like these and Surviving Mars to consoles, and games like Prison Architect to mobile devices.”

Pillars of Eternity is an RPG inspired by classic titles such as Baldur’s Gate, Icewind Dale, and Planescape: Torment, which features an original world and game system that evokes and improves upon the traditional computer RPG experience. The Complete Edition, adapted for consoles by Paradox Arctic and distributed at physical retail by 505 Games, features an enhanced UI and redesigned controls to provide a superb experience on the big screen, navigated easily and intuitively using game controllers.

Pillars of Eternity: Complete Edition features:

  • Award-winning writing, story and artwork of Pillars of Eternity, along with the expanded world and content of The White March: Parts I & II
  • Countless character creation options, from races and classes to character backgrounds which drive your personal story
  • An epic universe to explore, filled with intriguing party members and companions, a variety of in-game factions, and a lovingly rendered world to traverse
  • New UI and controls designed from the ground up, presenting the Pillars of Eternity experience like never before

Cities: Skylines is a modern take on the classic city simulation. The game introduces new mechanics to realize the thrill and hardships of creating and maintaining a real city, and allows for high levels of customization and personalization. The PlayStation®4 Edition has been adapted for console play by Tantalus Media and will be distributed worldwide at physical retail by Koch Media.

Cities: Skylines – PlayStation®4 Edition features:

  • Build the city of your dreams: Plan road networks, bus lines and parks. Bring education, healthcare and safety to your citizens. Build it your way!

  • Extensive local traffic simulation: Managing traffic and the needs of your citizens to work and play will require the use of several interactive transport systems – use careful road planning alongside buses, trains, subways, and much more.

  • Districts and policies: Ban heavy traffic in your downtown area, assign free public transport to your waterfront, or ban pets in suburbia. Designate parts of your city as a district in order to set policy at the local level, and give different parts of town their own personalities.

  • After Dark included: Watch your city become an entirely different place at night: a day-night cycle will have your citizens seeking out places to unwind after work. Add in new policies and zones to create popular hotspots and provide enough taxis and trains to get to and from the clubs!

This is amazing news as these games are awesome. It is especially great to see an amazing RPG like Pillars of Eternity get a console port. If you have not played either of these amazing games yet, now is your chance. These games are greatly recommended, and are of the highest quality

You can see trailers below

Paradox Interactive deserves much praise for bringing these games to consoles, as this required a lot of work. Hopefully their investment pays off.
