I have always loved pinball. Ever since I was a child, I have loved pinball machines and pinball videogames. Maybe it was playing NES pinball, or Alien Crush, I just found a love of both the machines and the video games. As such, I was a big fan of Zen Studios work. I hadn’t played some of their new boards in years, but one set that stood out above all others was their Bethesda pack.

Imagine taking Fallout 4, DOOM and Skyrim and turning them into pinball games, and at the same time retaining almost everything about the games. These are not just Bethesda themed pinball boards, they are the games fully adapted into pinball games, complete with game mechanics and identity.

Skyrim Pinball is nothing short of amazing. It retells the story of Skyrim through pinball and stays true to the game. It has the iconic music, it has leveling up and boss battles, and you have to watch your health and stamina at all times. You will go through dungeons, you will pick up loot and sort through and inventory and even craft items. I was absolutely blown away by the amount of detail put into the game. Yes its a stripped down version, but the essence is all still there. I had to be pulled away from the game just to be reminded that I had other obligations, that is how into it I got. The Skyrim board alone makes this worth getting. But it isn’t the only board.

DOOM Pinball was like getting hit with sensory overload in the best way possible. Great music, great visuals, good enemies and fights, I would never have thought it possible but it works. This follows the basic storyline of the new game and incorporates several elements from it, all done in the best way possible to keep the feeling despite the different format. I will even go so far as to say, that this particular board felt like more of a sequel to Alien Crush Pinball than the actual sequel for the Wii did .

Fallout Pinball is where things fell a bit short. I admit this may be because I am not extremely familiar with the Fallout games as much as others, but it felt like adapting many elements just got in the way. With Skyrim and Doom inventory and battles felt fluid and easy even if it took a while to get used to. With fallout, it felt way too clunky at times, but I can still appreciate the work done on this. The visuals are amazing and the music was good, but to me this just felt like the weak entry.

Overall, I would definitely give this a look at. My issues with the Fallout board likely have to do with my unfamiliarity with Bethesda’s entries, and fans might will like it. The other two boards however, were nothing but awesome. DOOM and Skyrim individually would make the purchase worth it, as they are some of the best pinball boards ever made. Fun, exhilarating and with an amazing amount of detail, these will suck you in fast.

I fully recommend checking this out.

InExile Entertainment has announced the development of Wasteland 3. The follow up to Wasteland 2 will be using Fig to get funding instead of kickstarter this time.

After several wildly successful Kickstarter campaigns, InExile Entertainment is ready to launch its next project. The pitch for Wasteland 3, the sequel to Wasteland 2, is ambitious. While the game itself promises to be a bit shorter at 50 hours, the graphics and the feature set will be significantly beefed up. We spoke with studio head Brian Fargo last week to get more details.

Wasteland 3 will be true to the series’ roots, allowing players to create a small party of characters and lead them through an isometric role-playing game in the classic style. It will tell the story of Team November, a group of Rangers sent on a mission to Colorado in the aftermath of a global nuclear apocalypse. In the opening sequence of the game, Fargo says, players will be stranded far from civilization and have to fend for themselves. Their biggest challenge early on will be staying alive in the sub-zero temperatures.

But, while many of the game’s systems should feel familiar to fans of the series, Fargo says his team is including bold new features that move the franchise into uncharted territory. First on the list is multiplayer, with both synchronous and asynchronous play.

……………………..

Players will be able to play with a friend or with a random match from the community. Most importantly, Fargo said, they’ll be able to break the multiplayer connection at any time. It’s essentially an eject button that diverts your game’s timeline from the timeline of whomever you’re connected to.

InExile has also teamed up with Brotherhood Games, which is comprised of brothers Christopher and Nic Bischoff. While they’re also working on the Stasis and Cayne isometric adventure games, fans might recognize their work from a few clever experiments that showed Fallout 4 and BioShock Infinite from an isometric perspective. With their help, InExile intends to bring a new level of graphical polish to the wasteland.

Wasteland 2 was the perfect follow-up to not only the original Wasteland, but also the first 2 Fallout games. Here is hoping that Wasteland 3 continues the great gameplay tradition.

Fallout Shelter’s Update 1.5 is here to make your life as an Overseer easier!

With Update 1.5, you can now scrap your unwanted items and turn them into Junk to build even more gear. This is your chance to clear out the clutter in your Storage rooms and craft some cool new stuff.

We’ve also added new customization options to the Barbershop and new civilian outfits to craft or find in lunchboxes.  You’ll hardly even recognize your Dwellers when you’re done with them. You can even make them look like Ghouls!

Overseers using an iPhone 6s or 6s Plus can now take advantage of Fallout Shelter’s new 3D Touch support. With 3D Touch you can load directly into your vaults, skipping the main menu. You can also use 3D Touch to assign Dwellers to rooms and access storage just by tapping on any Storage Room.

Since its launch, Fallout Shelter has added a ton of new features – including new rooms, characters from Fallout 4, pets, new outfits, and weapons. In the last update (Update 1.4), crafting was added to the world of Fallout Shelter giving you the ability to make weapons, armor, and outfits. We also introduced the ability to collect Junk by sending your Dwellers into the Wasteland and from Lunchboxes because the better the Junk, the better items you can craft! There’s even more on the way, so stay tuned for upcoming updates.

Fallout Shelter was an instant smash hit when it launched on iOS on June 14, 2015, climbing to the top of the charts and beating Candy Crush to become the third-highest-grossing game on the App Store in its first week. Since launching on iOS and Android devices, Fallout Shelter has received top honors from some of the industry’s leading outlets, including winner of ‘App Store Best of 2015’, ‘Google Play Best of 2015’, and ‘Best Handheld/Mobile Game’ at the 2015 Golden Joystick Awards. Most recently, Fallout Shelter was named ‘Mobile Game of the Year’ at the 2016 D.I.C.E. Awards.

Fallout Shelter is available for free on the App Store or Google Play.

Fallout Shelter is an addictive and fan mobile game and I recommend checking it out if you have not yet done so. It is very much worth your time.

No GravatarAfter the Fallout 4 trailer came out today, there has been an enormous amount of excitement about the game.  During careful review of the newly released trailer of the game, it does indeed appear that the game will be set in Boston, Massachusetts.

According to historical fiction author, Sophie Turner, the image of the ship with rocket boosters on it does appear to be the USS Constitution, which typically has docked in Boston in the past.  Also, an image of the Bunker Hill monument, the Paul Revere statue, and the Old North Church are visible as well.

This monument of Paul Revere has a Steam Punk-type dirigible in the background.

The Bunker Hill monument looks to be dilapidated from nuclear war.

No GravatarEarlier today, Bethesda tweeted out a link that appears to be a countdown to a Fallout 4 announcement.  The tweet first appeared from the @BethesdaStudios account and was quickly retweeted by their official Twitter account, @Bethblog.

Untitled

The tweet contains the hashtag, “#PleaseStandBy,” and gives a link to the webpage http://fallout.bethsoft.com with a countdown ticker with less than twenty-four hours on the clock.  The countdown clock is in a style that has previously been associated with the Fallout series.  The website http://falout4.com did contain the same countdown clock as well.  However, at the time of this publication, it appears to have been taken down.

Both the initial @BethesdaStudios Twitter account and the @Bethblog account have a picture of the clock as the header for their pages with an “RP” or “Rating Pending” ESRB rating in the lower right hand corner.

“Fallout 4” and “Bethesda” immediately began trending on Twitter as speculation that an announcement for the fourth installment of the popular action-RPG is imminent.  It has been rumored that Bethesda may announce Fallout 4 since they are hosting their first ever E3 press conference this year.  Bethesda’s E3 conference is scheduled for June 14 at 7 pm PT.

We will be following this closely as more details are available.

No GravatarThe newest addition into the Elder Scrolls franchise makes its way to our consoles in a blaze of magic, fire, and glory. Bethesda brings all of their talent and cleverness in game design into this fantasy epic for all platforms. Be it Xbox 360, Playstation 3, or PC your choice to experience the land of Skyrim; you will not be disappointed at the grand scale this fantasy world has to offer. Add to the mix a soundtrack that brings to life the feeling of older fantasy tales, and you have one of the better games of the year. Even with all that being said, there is truth to be found in all of this, and that truth will be EPIC.
