Tatsunoko vs Capcom was one of the more unusual fighting game crossovers made by Capcom. A fighter that took the characters from the various properties owned by Tatsunoko and pitted them up against some of Capcom’s finest, it was hands down the best fighting game on the Nintendo Wii.  And yet it almost didn’t get released overseas at all due to the rights issues involved. Capcom put in the effort and cleared up the rights for a time but that was back in the Wii era.

In the present day, the Nintendo Switch is selling faster and better than anyone could have predicted and many publishers such as Capcom are eager to get their games on the system. What would be better than a sequel to the best fighting game for the Wii?  However, there is a major problem involved as the rights would have to be renegotiated once more.T his would be trouble for an overseas release and Capcom may not see it as worthwhile due to how much of a hassle it was last time. But then I thought; what if Nintendo stepped in?

Nintendo has their own localization teams for Europe and the Americas and has experience dealing with lawyers over rights issues. Nintendo could theoretically get involved and sort the rights out themselves to get a sequel made for the Switch and arcades (in Japan).

TvC was such a great experience as a fighter that a sequel is truly deserved, and a potential sequel would also have an advantage. There would be with less corporate interference like was the case with Disney on the Marvel side with Marvel vs Capcom Infinite, which many feel hurt the game.  In addition, Nintendo could get involved themselves in the development to ensure it would be a game that would sell on Switch. Capcom could also apply the lessons they learned from Street Fighter V to avoid mistakes made previously.

I view this as the ideal way to get a sequel made, but this is just my opinion. What do you all think? Let me know below!
