This past year, Bethesda and Panic Button Games brought released Wolfenstein The Colossus to the Switch. A follow-up to Wolfenstein The New Order, the game was a bold sequel to the first game, but did it hold up on the Switch?

The New Colossus looks on Switch, maybe not as amazing as on the PS4, but it surprisingly held its own. The game made a tradeoff in visuals for framerate, and yet it still looks excellent in motion here. Panic Button had an unenviable task here and they rose to the task admirably. It is hard to believe it, but the game works well in handheld mode and I don’t feel like much was sacrificed in the end.

The gameplay is all here and still excellent, and I noticed fewer framerate drops than when I first played on PS4. I guess Panic Button took the time to iron out the issues and improve the overall presentation. There were still some stutters, but nothing serious and the overall experience was very smooth. I was able to enjoy the experience for as much as I played, and it felt like Wolfenstein.

The bizarre controversy of the game is still as alive as ever, as there are still people offended that Nazis are the villains of the game, but I have learned to stop giving these people attention ( and therefore power). Instead I focused on playing Wolfenstein II with its new gyro controls for the Switch version. Killing Nazis was never so intuitive and easy to do, and Panic Button transplanted the controls from DOOM with ease here.

As with the game on PS4, I feel that the pacing of the game is a bit off as it slows down too much at times in terms of progression and plot advancement. This is still not a major issue, and I knew what to expect going in this time. I found Wolfenstein on Switch to be an excellent port, and Bethesda and Panic Button knocked this one out of the park. I recommend this one.
