KEMCO has released many RPGs on Switch over the last few years and while some have been a hit, others have not. Some felt like they tried something new, while many others felt like a paint by numbers game. Now with Frane: Dragons’ Odyssey anew contender has entered the fray and does try something new. Is it a good new though, or a failed experiment?

Frane: Dragons’ Odyssey is definitely not the typical KEMCO rpg, that’s for sure, but that is not necessarily a good thing. The game is an action rpg but the controls have major issues. Just a few minutes into the game, the combat proved unresponsive and I grew instantly frustrated. It took a while before I managed to figure out how to resolve the issue, but the fact is that the game was not designed well.

This is a shame really as Frane: Dragons’ Odyssey has some great visuals for a KEMCO game, and the music is above standard. But the fact is that the gameplay is just poor. I wanted to like Frane: Dragons’ Odyssey but I kept struggling to get through it.  Halfway in, I had to throw in the towel due to the nonresponsiveness.

Frane: Dragons’ Odyssey is not one of KEMCO’s best moments to say the least. I would recommend avoiding this one and checking out Asdivine Hearts 1 and 2 if you want to see a good RPG from the company. They have done better than this.
