The Taiwanese horror game Devotion is an interesting horror game, but the real story is the true life drama involved in getting the game onto storefronts. The was pulled from Steam by the developers a while back,, due to having a meme (that has since been removed) that poked fun at China’s leader. There was a hidden piece of art containing writing that read “Xi Jinping” and “Winnie the Pooh”, a meme China is not fond of and has even outlawed. The game had been review bombed by Chinese gamers, and the developers wanted to minimize the damage.
The game was supposed to be released on GOG.com, but just a short time after announcing it, GOG announced they would not be releasing the game due to “receiving many messages from gamers”.
Earlier today, it was announced that the game Devotion is coming to GOG. After receiving many messages from gamers, we have decided not to list the game in our store.

The censorship is disappointing, and we hope Red Candle Games is able to find a good storefront for their game
