Punch-Out! was a true classic for Nintendo, both in the arcade and for home systems. One thing that helped the NES port of the game sell so well and achieve mainstream attention was having the endorsement and likeness of Mike Tyson in the game. Tyson was one of the biggest names in sports in the world at the time, and his being involved and making an appearance as the final boss helped the game immensely.

However, things changed in 1990 when Nintendo’s deal with Tyson ended. New versions of the game were put out featuring the stand-in character Mr. Dream, a pallet swap designed to look like a white man. Fans did not like Mr. Dream and he has not appeared since in the series, and we included him on our list of the worst characters in the Punch-Out! series. However, it seems Mr. Tyson wants back into the virtual boxing ring.

In a new episode of the Impaulsive podcast hosted by Logan Paul, Mike Tyson said something interesting about Punch-Out!.

‘We’re gonna make another one’.

Now if this is true and Tyson is working with Nintendo on a new Punch-Out!, that would be amazing and could be something Nintendo may announce soon. Perhaps Next Level Games could develop it again,  and make it like their Wii iteration of the game. If so, they should definitely also have Mr. Dream as a character, just to get knocked out by Tyson.
