A big concern for many is the fact that when online services end for a system, updates will no longer be able to be accessed for physical media. One company that is addressing this concern seems to be Nintendo though.
Joshua Michael French confirmed on twitter that a new retail version of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe he purchased is at Software version 1.7.1 complete in box. The new version has a new product code as well.
Decided to pick up a new retail copy of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe at @Walmart, and I can confirm that it‘s now #CompleteOnCart at software version 1.7.1. The original release had a product code of 105278A on the back cover. This one is 105278B (see pic 3). #SwitchCorps @NintendoAmerica pic.twitter.com/BUt34OfDiS

What do you think about this? Should more companies follow this approach?
