When Nintendo announced the new tier of NintendoSwitch Online retro offerings, it came with the announcement of Nintendo 64 and Sega Mega Drive/Genesis games. Game Boy games had been rumored for the service but seemed not to be the case.
According to Eurogamer’s Tom Phillips however, Game Boy and Gameboy Color games are still coming to the Switch. However, he also noted in a follow-up message that is he is not sure if these systems will be a part of the higher pricing tier
“N64 and Mega Drive were the two NSO platforms I’d heard about alongside Game Boy/Color. I’d imagine N64/Mega Drive are being rolled out first as they’re more enticing things to prompt people to upgrade.”
Another “insider” known as ‘NateDrake’ has implied that Game Boy and Game Boy Color games will be part of the base membership.
“I would anticipate that Game Boy and Game Boy Color are part of the current Nintendo Switch Online service and they [Nintendo] didn’t want to conflate the two.”
What do you think? Will Game Boy and Game Boy Color games still be coming to Switch?
