The supply chain disruption has hit Nintendo Switch now, as according to a Nikkei report, Nintendo will be making 20 percent fewer Switch systems due to the chip shortage going on. There has also been a shortage of semiconductors and other electronic parts, which has affected most of the industry.
Nintendo had originally planned to produce 30 million Switch units In the fiscal year through March but later changed the target to 25.5 million. According to Nikkei’s report, this number has fallen further to 24 million units or 20 percent below the original goal.
Nintendo only commented by saying: “We are assessing their impact on our production.”
