During a Q&Aafter Nintendo’s latest financial results, one question asked was about the topic of NFTs and the metaverse. According to David Gibson, (who was in attendance) Nintendo did not dismiss the idea and sees potential in them, and its main point of interest is the metaverse response wasn’t one of instant dismissal and that its main point of interest would be the metaverse.
NFTs, have proven controversial, especially in gaming, with companies like Konami and Ubisoft hopping on the bandwagon, and Team17 backtracking after controversy. The public has largely had a negative reaction and if handled wrong, this could hurt rather than help Nintendo.
