Retro fans should take note as Forest of Illusion, Hard4Games, and Gaming Alexandria have made a major discovery in terms of retro arcade ports, as it turns out that Taito’s 1985 arcade game The Fairyland Story going to be ported to the Famicom in 1986. The Famicom version was mentioned in magazines, but ultimately never came out and many thought it was simply a lost game. However, a purchase made by retro modder @FenrisRetro has changed things considerably as the Famicom version has been recovered.
The cartridge found is a debug build dated 25th April 1986, and there are a few differences between this Famicom version and the arcade version. One example is that many of the level layouts are completely different, and in other similar levels, the enemy placement is very different. The cartridge has since been dumped online for everyone to check out and is available from Forest of Illusion.
