The Switch 2 news cycle is heating up again as it seems an Nvidia employee has accidentally confirmed the existence of the rumoured Tegra239 chip that is supposedly meant to be used in the next Nintendo hardware. This information was shared on Twitter by @CentroLeaks after being found on the GamingLeaksAndRumours subreddit and shared by u/followmeinblue.

The employee’s comment on the Tegra239 is the first official confirmation of this specific system-on-a-chip (SoC) and you can access the full details over on linux.org.

Here is an extract from the subreddit:

This lines up with a March leak from @NWPlayer123 who found references to the “T234/T239”, and speculation on the subreddit linked above puts potential output for a hypothetical console using this chip in the ballpark of the PS4 performance-wise. For reference, the current Switch models run on the ‘Mariko’ revision of Nvidia’s Tegra X1 SoC, however, there were rumours last year that Nvidia was bringing production of that ageing chip to a close.
