Indie Heroes is one of Evercade’s core product lines, helping to deliver modern retro games designed for older systems and highlighting the work of smaller independent game designers. From homebrew to studio, this Indie line makes up a big portion of Evercade’s continued Indie game offerings.
THE FUTURE OF INDIE HEROES AND GAME OF THE MONTH
From January 2023, the release date for the next Indie Heroes collection will be locked to that month. Meaning each subsequent Indie Heroes release will be January of the following year.
To support this, the Game of the Month program will return starting April 2023 through to December 2023. Evercade fans will be able to play one game every month before a console update will rotate the available game. All games along with some not provided in the Game of the Month feature will be available to buy physically on the next Indie Heroes cartridge collection.
Evercade’s current hardware line-up includes two devices. The TV based Evercade VS, which is currently available and a new handheld due in Winter 2022, the Evercade EXP, which features 18 built-in games from publisher Capcom. From 2023, Game of the Month will be available on both devices, thanks to the WiFi connectivity that both of them carry. So Evercde fans will now be able to enjoy Game of the Month on the go!
There will still be other indie titles available throughout our release schedule in future including plans for more dual carts (XenoCrisis/Tanglewood and Alwa’s Awakening/Cathedral) and publisher collections. Indie Heroes will also not be constrained to the home console-based games with other systems planned in future where the retro indie development scene is active.
