Armalyte was a 1988 shmup from Cyberdyne Systems, and a bit of a mix between Gradius and R-Type. The game was created by John Kemp, Dan Phillips and Robin Levy, with audio duties handled by Martin Walker and received much acclaim and desire for a sequel. Armalyte 2 was in development for a while and a remake was made in the form of the Amiga and Atari ST version of the game, with a GBA remake planned but cancelled, but the sequel never saw the light of day.
Now though, Armalyte is coming back in a new way with Thalamus announcing Amalyte: The Ultra Edition for the C64. The game is targeted for 2023, but could still see a delay. It is possible this is the result of what Phillips and Kemp announced they were working on in 2013 for an Armalyte 2, but that remains to be seen.
