When you play as many games as I have, you come to feel you have seen everything. It seems originality just isn’t there anymore in gaming, and then something comes along and changes that perception. I can safely say for certain about Zarvot that I have not seen anything like it before.

Zarvot is a genre busting game, that combines elements of isometric shooters, with life sim games. That sounds like a crazy idea, and it is. Yet the game works wonderfully but never trying to point out how it is blending genres. Instead the game treats everything as if it were perfectly natural.

Zarvot starts out as a game about making the perfect birthday gift, but becomes more very quickly. Yet despite the shooting elements in the game providing some intense action, the slice of life aspect still feels equally compelling.  I realize how strange that sounds, but this is an adventure game that manages to be a fun action game at the same time and has both aspects as equal selling points.

I am amazed to see such originality, and the more I played, the more I enjoyed the game. There were twists and turns of course, as there needs to be, and the story becomes something else the more you go on. I have seen plenty of shooting games that try and have a story, but this is on another level altogether.

The shooting is fun as I said, and you will not get bored of it quickly. Zarvot always manages to throw something new in every step of the way, leading to a game that defies conventions by simply paying them no heed. It is a rather brave piece of game software, and I tip my hat to the developers on this. Such creativity should be encouraged more, and I fully recommend checking this game out. You will not regret spending time with Zarvot.
