Good Job! is an interesting game from Nintendo and Paladin. It sees you take on the role of a corporate CEO’ kid who is looking to rise up the ranks of the company. The way you do so here, is by taking on every job in the company imaginable and go all out in doing so. You complete these tasks however you want, and it is always fun to cause some damage as you do so. The trick however, is to create keep the right balance while causing enough chaos to get everything.

When the game says you earn your way up from the bottom, its not joking as the levels start at the ground level and culminate at the very top. Along the way, you will go through floors with specific themes, such as meeting rooms, toilets, warehouses and more You will need to do certain tasks in these levels and how you go about them is up to you. This means, if you need to replace a broken object, you can go for trying to be as perfect as possible with no damage….or go all out with causing mayhem and havoc. Spread paint throughout the offices, destroy the warehouses with forklifts and disrupt conferences to create anarchy. Its fun and creates a sense anything can happen much like with another chaos causing game, namely Untitled Good Game. It is also somewhat reminiscent of the Katamari series, which makes sense since developer Paladin has worked on that series in the past. I would say that Good Job! takes ideas from these games, while managing to put forward its own concepts as well.

You can even customize your character as you see fit, and you can find more cosmetics along the way, by causing more damage and uncovering secrets, This is a great way to incentivize causing destruction wherever you go, and encourage replays. You will want to find everything and that will take some time, so replaying each level is going to be a must if you want to 100% the game. Tis all beingsaid, you will not be able to complete the game just causing anarchy due to being graded at the end of each level based on how you did. Doing some damage is okay, but doing too much will prevent you from moving on. Thus you need to find the right playstyle for each separate playthrough. You will want to create destruction to find everything, but you will also want to do well. This adds a good ammount of tension and challenege to the experience to get what you need.

There is also a multiplayer component here, but it does not make changes to the game to accommodate more than one player. There are no new challenges or obstacles, everything is the same as the single player, but this can be both good and bad. It would have been nice to see the multiplayer bring a lot more challenge to the game with new puzzles and tasks designed for multiplayer, but having more than 1 player handle some tasks is a good way to get through some challenges. I hesitate to call the multiplayer lacking, as it is still very fun. It just is not as inventive as it could have been. The challenge instead comes from adjusting from single to multiplayer and co-ordinating things. I had a decent time with this mode, and it is a decent addition to the game.

Good Job! is an extremely fun experience and manages to evoke old ideas and new, with its requirements of balancing the amount of chaos you cause.  I really like that Nintendo is working with smaller developers on titles like this and The Stretchers, to try and make games they do not usually make. I recommend trying this out, as you will truly enjoy it.
