The worlds of Shonen Jump have become a staple of entertainment for many. With a vast variety of characters and stories, there are sure to one for just about anyone. Jump Force is a game that takes all of the great characters fans know and love and throws them into a fighting game. Though in this one, they aren’t fighting strictly in home court, this time our world is the arena.
The game has a story that ties the Jump world to our own in an interesting way. In Jump Force players are healed by Trunks and brought back to life as a hero. Players then get to create their character and jump into the story. The character creation tool is quite robust and allows for players to make a character that suits their desires.
Players also get to choose a fighting style of either fighter, ninja, or pirate, based obviously on Goku, Naruto, and Luffy. The last thing players choose is a squad led by the three aforementioned heroes. Choosing which squad the player joins is important because it changes which scenes players see. Joining Luffy’s scene I was shown scenes involving characters that joined that squad.
It is also worth noting that the game provides the players with a few shops. These shops let players by buffing items as well cosmetic items. While it might take a few fights, it is rather easy to build up the funds to deck out the character. It’s great mixing and matching iconic accessories from different hit anime.
Jump Force is a fantastic fighting game and one that has quite the cast of characters. These characters range from the Saiyan Goku, to the super hero Deku and even to the super charged student Jotaro. It’s great having these characters interact and seeing what they think of each other. Some characters even offer to train the other heroes and its nice to see.
Jump Force is definitely a vibrant game and one that is nice to look at. But, there is something to be said about some the facial animations. It’s clear that not as much work went into making the player character react. They often look unphased by the action going on around them which is crazy.
The story is interesting and it is great that a normal human joins in on the fun. Though of course they are revived with an anime soul, so they aren’t exactly like a regular person. I wouldn’t have imagined having a character fused with anime power, and it makes for a solid story. While the villain might not be greatest of all time they do offer up a good opposition to the heroes.
This game sends the player on missions to complete objectives. Depending on the team the player will face different missions. Players can complete daily missions, extra missions, and regular missions to level up their character and earn money to buy upgrades. The story missions roll out at a good clip but the player isn’t forced to immediately clear the story if they don’t want to. The story does push the player to do so, but the player is always free to complete other missions to level their characters up especially as the fights do get harder.
Jump Force has some stunning battle arenas, especially since the real world is often fused with the anime world. When fighting in Japan, the Pyramid of Egypt from Yugioh is seen, and when fighting on the planet Namek the player will see the Statue of Liberty. The anime world has thrown our world into chaos and nothing, nothing seems to make sense.
This game is also somewhat of an MMO. The base is a hub and players can see other characters walking around going about their play time. It is always cool to see what kind of characters people make and the hub is a great place to see this in action. Players can also challenge each other to fights and join teams for missions. Adding multiplayer to fighting games is always great and the hub works well.
Jump Force is a solid anime fighting game and one that lets players live out the dream of being an anime character. With so much to collect and a character to craft this game will offer tons of fun. Plus, players can duke it out with friends, and see who is the ultimate fighter. The battles are often insane, but the world needs the player’s help, are they up to the challenge?
