Materia Collective is pleased to present the long-awaited Aven Colony (Original Game Soundtrack) composed by Alexander Brandon. The beautiful and intricate soundtrack combines warm electronic textures and sweeping orchestra to create an evolving organic soundscape perfect for building the futuristic cities of the future. The Aven Colony (Original Game Soundtrack) is available today wherever digital music is sold:

“Aven Colony has a very cool music design,” explains composer Alexander Brandon, giving some insight into the creation of the soundtrack. “The team requested a feeling of ‘organic synthesis’ and low key tonal beds when the player first begins building. As they progress, the music will shift using the same beds but add orchestra for a grandiose representation of their accomplishments to represent the ‘glory of civilization.’ It was challenging writing vertically with layers as opposed to writing music in a horizontal way with segments like ‘action’ or ‘exploration.’ The team was very pleased with the results and I think the style fits the game very well.”
Highlights include “The Farthest Reaches” which ventures into new territory with a highly melodic combination of synths and orchestra to give the player an sense of the progression from humble beginnings to massive spires on alien planets. “Hyla’s Crescent Rising” features vocals from Elizabeth Zharoff from the Los Angeles Opera, incorporate more organic elements. Finally, “Caution at Hyla’s Crescent” showcases anxiety-inducing “danger” layering with guttural horns and big percussion that activate when threats like spores or massive worms appear.
