Bandai Namco and AtGames had a healthy relationship once, but those days are over. Bandai Namco has filed a lawsuit against AtGames over the use of the trademark of Ms. Pac-Man.
While Bandai Namco and AtGames had a business relationship at one point, which gave the licensing of certain rights to AtGames for use including“Pac-Man”, Bandai Namco’s complaint alleges that AtGames failed to keep within the terms of its agreement. They further allege that AtGames went as far as releasing a version of the Pac-Man product it was developing that Bandai Namco insists was different from the approved version. “which resulted in reputational damage to the rights owner.
Also alleged, is that AtGames released a “Ms. Pac-Man” arcade machine despite not having a licence to any Ms. Pac-Man IP and that AtGames lied to retailers about the legitimacy of the product.s
This is another blow for AtGames and it remains to be seen what will happen.
Could this be in relation to AtGames selling handheld Namco consoles that contained the arcade ROMS when given out to YouTubers to review, but only contained the NES version when released at retail?
