Billy Mitchell continues to back off from his threats. The embattled former record holder had filed a lawsuit against the forum after it played a key role in exposing his actions in allegedly creating fraudulent scores, but has now dropped his case.
Billy Mitchell’s actions led to him getting stripped of his titles and records, which prompted him to pursue legal action. In an interesting turn of events, Markus “Notch” Persson, creator of Minecraft, offered to pay legal fees for those targetted by Mitchell. Mitchell would attempt to re-create his supposed perfect Pac-Man score but after four days, abandoned the attempt without success. During this time, Mitchell was allegedly caught on tape admitting to fraud as well.
Mitchell’s dropping of the lawsuit was done voluntarily as a voluntary dismissal without prejudice and the filing can be seen below.
Hopefully, this is another step to the end of legal campaigning.
