Son of a Witch is a rather cute Roguelike action game. Players can play with up three of their friends, and fight their way through different battlefields, facing countless enemies and using all sorts of powers. This game is just cute enough that anyone can play it. It’s a game worth playing with anyone who loves co-op play, so have at it!

The game itself is procedurally generated and offers tons of replayability. With permadeath, every adventure can easily lead to the next. Players will bound between new worlds as they die and will always be surprised by what is on the other side. It’s great when a game makes it so easy to start a new file as so many games require long hours on one playthrough.

This game has countless monsters, broken up into seven enemy factions. Each of the groups has different reasons for wanting to kill the player, but the details aren’t super important. There are twenty-four bosses to take on, so get ready to bash in some ugly beasts. This game is delightful, too, in that the player never knows what is going to pop up. Players might find weapons that will change the game or potions that might even make the game harder. They can find companions to battle alongside in the form of pets. This game might look sweet, but it has complexity hidden beneath the surface. If the players are willing to look for it, they are in for a deep game.

Every weapon in this game also has an ability unique to that weapon. Players will be surprised to find that maybe two of the same sword won’t have the same power. Items also have their uses and might even have magic too. Speaking of magic, players might find powerful spells that once they unlock will cause massive damage!

Players can also complete quests to find more party members. Complete more quests and build the roster. Players will also need to figure out if their character is a melee fighter, a mage, or an archer. These three roles have their battle style, so be ready to change things up. This game is simple yet deceptively deep, and players will learn this.

Son of a Witch is a great indie title and has a lot to offer. It’s available on many systems, including Nintendo Switch, so it’s worth picking up. With so many enemies to take on and procedurally generated worlds, the player is sure to find some enjoyment. Multiple realms are in peril will the player and their companions help save them?
