DeBlob is back on Nintendo Consoles again in the self-titled release, a game which was originally done for the Wii. DeBlob, while fun played with a Wiimote, looks and plays better on the Switch. It is always better, in my opinion, to have a game played without motion like in its original Nintendo release.

DeBlob is a beautiful game about a paint blob and his friends saving the world from evil. The evil, in this case, being an army of grey ink blobs who want nothing more than to drain the world of its color. They will do all the can to impede DeBlob and the resistance from completing their task.

DeBlob is a powerful hero even though he is a simple paint blob. This hero loads himself up with color depending on the paint he lands in. The player can combine colors to paint the world. Watch out though as the paint will run out if used too much. There is also a need for the player to avoid ink as that will cause the player to remove paint around him and turn grey. But it is also tantamount to avoid water, as that will kill our hero.

DeBlob is a fantastic game that has a lot of fun in store for anyone who picks it up. There are many challenges to complete and a colorful world full of colorful characters for the player to interact with. It is a certainly a game that runs and plays better without motion controls and is at home on the Nintendo Switch. Pick it up today and save the world from the inky blots who just want to make the world as grey as possible with the power of paint!

There are cutscenes which help to fill the world and show important details in the story. Before every level, there are even comics, and that is pretty cool. It’s great to see things like comics and movies that expand the world and make everything flow better.

DeBlob has the player bounding around the world taking on challenges. There are quite a few challenges such as painting the world certain colors, hitting targets, and racing among others. It is fun to complete these challenges as they arise. Each challenge type is watched over by a different resistance member and they are always so happy to see De Blob it’s charming. There are also awards in every level for players to unlock and that, of course, can seriously add to the play time.

Completing challenges and painting the world are both fun in their own right, and it is nice that the player has a lot of freedom to choose which colors they want to use. Outside of challenges with specific colors, the player can feel free to paint as they want and that is a great thing.

The world gradually changes from a grey backdrop to something vibrant and full of life. This game is perfect for those who consider themselves completionists as the world isn’t fully colored until all is done.

There is also Free Paint Mode which is a great way to add more play time while opening up the world to simply play and paint. It is actually quite peaceful to simply paint without having to worry about raising the player’s score. It’s always nice for players to return to a place they helped save, and to just go nuts.

Up to four players can paint the town red in multiplayer mode, which adds modes throughout the story. This is a fun way to play more of the game as couch co-op is often a highlight.

All in all, De Blob is a fantastic painting adventure in a thrilling world. De Blob has a lot of things he needs to do, and to save the world from Grey he will need all the help he can get. This game even though it’s rather old, shines on the Nintendo Switch and that is a great thing. The Nintendo Switch is a perfect home for such a game, as it is one player’s will want to just play anywhere it strikes their fancy. So, get ready and get artsy, it’s time for a color exploding party and only the player can help De Blob save the day!
