Nintendo is preparing to launch the Wii U in North America on November 18th, people in the United States that pre ordered and are planning to buy the Wii U Deluxe set can look forward to a special promotion that will pay back consumers for spending money with Nintendo. Nintendo today reveals more details about the Promotion. The Promotion lets consumers earn points back when they purchased downloadable games and redeem those points for even more digital content in the online Nintendo eShop

All Dexule set owners who buy any form of digital content for their Wii U will earn points with a 10% equivalent value. Example, if a game is priced at $59.99 and this game is purchased and registered, consumers would earn 599 points. For every 500 points earned consumers can redeem a code worth $5.00 that can be used for either the Wii U or 3DS eShop. The Promotion will be through Nov. 18, 2012, until Dec. 31, 2014. All purchases then will be counted towards the actual of the program in December. Members will be able to see the points and credits they have earned by signing in with their Nintendo Network ID and password. Codes must be redeemed at the website by June 30, 2015. But the actual credit on the eShop already redeemed will not expire.

“From day one, we want Wii U owners to experience the full breadth of great downloadable games and content available for the console,” said Scott Moffitt, Nintendo of America’s executive vice president of Sales & Marketing. “The Deluxe Digital Promotion is our way of encouraging Wii U Deluxe Set owners to explore the Nintendo eShop and discover how Wii U offers an incredible combination of fun, innovation, convenience and value.”

Now games the qualify for the promotion are games and content published by Nintendo as well as games from Third party publishers. Purchases from the 3DS eShop or Wii U basic set are not eligible.

This program reminds me a lot of the Ambassador program that was introduced for early adopters of the 3DS. Even so, i’m still very excited about the program, given that I purchase plenty of Nintendo published games. It’s good to see Nintendo give back to hardcore supporters such as myself.
