Continuing on our discussion of Warhammer video games Games Workshop should look into, here are four more ideas. This time the ideas suggested by other fans of the franchise that we asked for their opinions on what kind of games they wanted to see from the franchise.

A Tactical Turn-Based Strategy Game Set During the Unification War

The 40K era has been well explored in books, tabletop games, audio dramas, video games and more, and the 30K era and Ware of the Beast era have also been explored. One area that has not been touched though, is the Terran Unification War and the stories within. A Strategy game set in the Unification War could show the Emperor’s rise to power on Terra, crushing the Techno Barbarians and using the Thunder Warriors before disposing of them. It would be a good way to shine a light on an unexplored era of Warhammer.

A Mass Effect style RPG Starring An Inquisitor

A full-on sci-fi RPG in the 40K universe has been something fans have wanted for a long time, one suggestion that came up numerous times was an RPG starring an inquisitor that would play like a dark version of Mass Effect. Instead of Paragon or Renegade, the paths would be Radical or Puritan, with multiple different origins for where the inquisitor was from and how they got noticed by the inquisition. The game would diverge depending also on the ordo the Inquisitor was a part of, with different routes for Malleus, Hereticus and Xenos each taking on their own goals and quests with some overlap between them.

A Surgeon Simulator Style Game Starring The Dark Eldar or Orks

Dark humour is abundant in 40K and in the game Surgeon Simulator, so why not combine the two? Have a game where an Ork Painboy or a Dark Eldar Homunculus carries out procedures in horrifically hilarious ways on captive humans, tau, space marines or other entities. The Orks and Dark Eldar would play differently, but the twisted nature of both would be played entirely for humour as a self-parody and allow the player to enjoy a different style of 40K video game

A Survival Horror Game Set In A Hive City With Infested With Genestealers

40K is no stranger to horror elements, and we have already discussed the idea of a warp-based horror game here, but what about a horror game set in a hive city? Gensestealer incursions into hive cities are common in the lore, and a game set in a hive city overrun with the cults could play very similar to something like Dead Space. Perhaps players could control an Arbites in a world gone mad where they do not know who to trust, must make their way to safety and fend off Xenos who can learn and adapt very quickly. Paranoia would be a major factor as would limited resources claustrophobic settings, making for a unique Warhammer game.

There are many Warhammer video games out there but there is always room for more. Now we must ask our readers once again, what do you want to see in a Warhammer video game?
