I love fighting games and I love Power Rangers. So Power Rangers Battle for The Grid is a dream come true for me. The announcement didn’t show many characters and this got me thinking. Who are 7 characters who would be a good fit for the game? Read below to see who made the list.

………………

Dylan

Ranger Operator Series Black from Power Rangers RPM may seem like an odd pick but he is a rather unique character.  RPM established that the black ranger morpher was more powerful than the rest of the morphers and a special operator was needed. Dylan had a unique fighting style in the show and elements of RPM would work perfectly in BFTG. For instance, he could utilize runoff energy as an attack like in the show, and he could be a strong bruiser  character as well. Being the focus character of RPM, he makes the most sense to represent that series.

Lord Zedd

Do I really need to say why?  Lord Zedd is THE villain people think of when Power Rangers is brought up. He was a terrifying villain when first introduced and made his presence known. Zedd has a variety of powers and abilities he could make use of, such as energy blasts, using his staff as a weapon, and best of all, summoning putties to use as minions. There are so many possibilities and Zedd is such an iconic character that he needs to be part of this.

Master Org

This may be an odd choice but hear me out. I think Master Org would be a neat character to have in the game for what eh could bring to the table. Not just energy blasts and his weapon but moreso his vines. They would make him a very unique character and offer a moveset that offers a lot of variety compared to the rangers themselves. Think kind of like Swamp thing in Injustice 2 but not exactly, and with more of a focus on trapping and binding opponents.

Adam Park

The second Mighty Morphin Black Ranger and the green Zeo ranger, Adam would be a good choice for the roster in any of his incarnations.  Adam as a character is a martial artist in the show and the game would do well to use him as a fast moving glass cannon type character. If using his Zeo incarnation, his unique weapons and abilities from that series would be excellent to incorporate (especially given that Dylan is a better choice for a black ranger character in the game), and I see him as a high risk high reward character.

Goldar

The iconic general of Rita and Lord Zedd, Goldar is another one of the most well known villains in the series. He would be perfect for pure nostalgia but would also have a good playstyle. Goldar could use his sword for striking attacks, and his wings could help him stand out with some aerial strikes. There is also a basis for striking and grappling given his fights with the red and green/white rangers in the Mighty Morphin days.

Phantom Ranger

One of the most mysterious rangers, the Phantom Ranger would be a great pick because of his mystery and unique abilities. He was always a fan favourite and utilized unique weapons in his appearances that could be brought into BFTG very easily in terms of projectiles. He also has the power of invisibility which makes him stand out more. This isn’t even getting into his unique design, which is unlike any other ranger. A good character for ranged attacks as well as quick strikes, the Phantom Ranger is an ideal pick.

Magna Defender

One of the most popular sixth rangers ( even if he wasn’t technically a ranger by title), the Magna Defender is a character that must be in the game. A sword fighter like Goldar, his weapon is also a transforming one that becomes a gun. This is a key difference, as  I see this as a quick special move that will see him unleash a burst of attacks. It could also be done in a meter burn type move that would deal heavy damage.. I view him as a good choice simply because of his unique design and fighting style displayed in Lost Galaxy. Not to mention, having that badass theme would really help as well.

And there you have it. 7 great choices.

Before I go, here are some honorable mentions that didn’t make the list.

Titanium Ranger

Psycho Rangers

Bulk and Skull
