Warhammer Week on Real Otaku Gamer is coming to an end, and with it, I would like to share my thoughts on the one video game adaptation of the franchise that needs to be made. We have seen excellent RTS games,  great turn-based strategy games, hybrid strategy games, and action games, there is truly something for almost everyone. What is lacking though, is a proper video game adaptation of the tabletop gameplay. I am not talking about games like Mechanicus, which is more of an X-com style game, but rather an official Tabletop Simulator made for replicating Warhammer 40 000, and also Warhammer Age of Sigmar.

Many gamers have been using Tabletop Simulator to replicate the experience as best as they can, but it is not perfect. Given the current pandemic, many people are not going out to play the games with friends and other hobbyists, and even after the pandemic ends, there will be many who are reluctant to go to events or be around a lot of people. A proper tabletop simulator specific for Warhammer games would be an ideal way to allow people to play the game even when we are all socially distancing. This would also allow a game to finally truly be an authentic video game adaptation of the franchise.

Games Workshop could also release various updates and DLC to cover the various editions of the games, as well as the various different games under the Warhammer banner. This includes not just Age of Sigmar and 40 000, but also spinoff titles and discontinued titles like Necromunda, The Horus Heresy, Adeptus Titanicus, and more. Different sub-games and scenarios can be added and new armies can be made available to play. This would also serve as a great way for players to test out an army or a game before getting into purchasing them in real life. This could actually end up as a great way to advertise Warhammer games and help get more people into the hobby.

If Games Workshop is worried about this hurting the physical games, then there is a solution as well. Just use discontinued games and model lines for such a simulator. It would not affect the current product, and may in fact raise interest in getting more games and model lines brought back physically as well. Games Workshop has been more willing to license their IP for video games lately, and this is the logical step to take. It would help expand the reach of Warhammer and give fans a way to play with others that they are not able to in person. This type of game would be perfect for PCs, and can even be adapted to consoles as well, and therefore I hope they consider this idea.
