At E3 2019, CD Projekt Red officially announced a long-rumoured port of The Witcher 3 for the Nintendo Switch. While this will be a downgraded port, with lesser visuals, CD Projekt Red has assured fans that the game will not lack any content and the only real changes will be to the UI.  Because of this, it is important to note just how significant a game this is for the Switch.

We have seen many cases of big name games coming to the Switch and either not running well at all ( Ark Survival Evolved), or have charged a high price ( various Capcom games). Sometimes we see games released only in part physically on Switch, while the rest must be downloaded ( Capcom again), and this is where things are different.

CD Projekt Red is going above and beyond to ensure this is an optimized port that will be as good as humanly possible and we see the results. The entire game, including all the DLC is included on the cartridge, and aside from taking a visual hit, the content is intact. While people may not be happy with the lesser visual power, it is a worthwhile tradeoff to have the game in a portable form.

CD Projekt Red is also including a number of bonuses with the physical version including a map, a compendium and stickers for fans to enjoy. This is clearly not a rush job and something that has a lot of care being put into it. CD Projekt Red understands the potential for the game on Switch and wants the audience to enjoy The Witcher on Nintendos’s System.

This is not even getting into the fact that this is one of the best RPGs of this generation, and a big get for Nintendo, in general, to have on their system. What we have here, is a case where no one is slacking, and everyone wants to give the fans what they want. The voice actors have been excited for this on twitter and CD Projekt Red is excited as well. By going the extra mile to not require downloads for the physical version, they show the fans that they do appreciate them. This is a game to watch for on the Switch.
