Zheros is a chaotic beat em up that aims to bring us to a simpler time. A game starring two heroes who might not be the sharpest. At least the male of the operation seems to be a few bulbs short. These two weirdos are going to try and save the world and it is up to the player to help them out. This game is quick-paced and will offer up a challenge to anyone who wants to play it.
This game is a true beat em up and gives players plenty of chances to smash them all. The player will choose between the dorky yet strong Mike or the agile and ever ready Captain Dorian. They will fight through waves of enemies to rack up the highest score. It’s a simple yet effective gameplay style that is the base of the expert gameplay held within. This game might start simple but players will learn that finesse will help them out. Players can block and reflect projectiles while performing massive combos. The higher the combo, the better the score. It’s great to increase the multiplier over and over and watch the points rack up. This game might not be overly challenging but learning to play cleanly is fun.
Players even gain access to powerful mechs! Mechs change up how the player plays the game because they allow for stronger attacks. While the characters might not move as fast they will certainly pack a bigger punch. It’s great when they find a mech because it changes up combat and opens up a chance for higher combos. These heroes can be upgraded too, depending on how the player plays. They can upgrade things like the character’s muscle if they want to be more physical. Or they can upgrade the weapons if that is the route they feel most comfortable with. Choose wisely as skill points aren’t gained so easily. Go with the gut and choose skills based on how the player plays!
This game can also be played Co-op which is fun in of itself. Taking on hordes of enemies with both characters is a nice change of pace. They will fly across the screen taking out all sorts of baddies and look good doing it. While they aren’t the best looking characters, the style is all out there and with them working in tandem its tops. There is even DLC for this game in the form of the Forgotten Lands. This takes the players to an ancient Asian world where they are joined by a new playable character. This new character is completely different as she isn’t from the far-flung future the other two are from. Using her skills players will help her save the world and the other two might help as well.
Zheros is an interesting game that aims to take players to a different time. A game that takes finesse to master and provides ample challenge. While it might not be the best game out there, it is a fun adventure and worth checking out. These Zheros prove even zeroes can be heroes, will the player guide them to victory?
