Eyeballistic, the team that initially approached Ed Boon about creating Mortal Kombat HD is back with a petition. When the team first pitched their remaster to Ed Boon, he was ecstatic about it, but WB Games didn’t feel it would sell enough at the time. Eyeballistic has since become a proper development studio and has signed contracts to make games for multiple platforms, but still wants to make the MK remaster.

The studio has put up a petition on Change.org to help them get WB Games to let them make the game. The petition has already reached well over 15,000 signatures with a target goal of 25,000 on the website. the team says it is seeking 100,000 supporters all up.  That said, the company wants 100,000 signatures and has even started a social media campaign promoting the hashtag #BBMKT –  short for “bring back Mortal Kombat trilogy”.

Eyeballistic has stated that it has been enhancing its online rollback tech with some proprietary tech in order to improve upon GGPO even further and make playing across great distances even smoother. The dev will use Epic’s online services, allowing the game to support cross-play, and the team the developer will “painstakingly recreate every detail of every stage and character” in glorious 3D. By this, it means fatalities, brutalities, friendships, animalities, characters and stages will get a facelift to 4K on supported platforms with plans for 60 fps gameplay powered by Unreal Engine 5, in addition to remaking the music.

“Target platforms for release would be Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series, PS5 and PC. We anticipate the game would cost $39.99 and it would include everything the original MK Trilogy had plus the standard online match making and world wide leaderboards. If you want this remake to happen, please show your support by signing the petition. When we reach 100,000 supporters we’ll approach WB with a plan to use crowdfunding to further demonstrate that the game will sell like crazy!”
