Symphony of the Night is the most famous Castlevania game, and it seems it may be coming to another system….unofficially at least. YouTuber Pigsy has begun attempting to back-port the game to Sega Mega Drive/Genesis, after previously having ported the Game Gear Shinobi to the Mega Drive/Genesis.

Progress has been made, as seen in the images above, but the goal is not to port the entire game to the system but instead use it as a basis for a traditional Classicvania experience based on the legendary title.

Pigsy has also stated their intent to use a combination of assets from both the PlayStation and Saturn versions, including the extra content from the latter. The game will actually have two modes: one with Alucard and one with Maria, who will play very differently from one another. The two will have different routes through the castle that will be split into around eight levels each.

Pigsy is a self-confessed newbie at this, so it may be a while before the project is released. Especially if Konami decides to take action against it, as the company has been known to do. Still, it definitely is one of the more unique Castlevania fan projects and one to keep an eye on.
