I have previously written a number of pieces in the past about potential DLC and changes for Super Smash Bros Ultimate, and I feel it is time to explore that topic again. In one of my previous pieces, I discussed the idea of Assist Trophies becoming dlc, and now I would like to turn my attention to the idea of Spirits as dlc. After Min Min made the jump from spirit to dlc, the floodgates opened with numerous possibilities. The sheer amount of spirits is overwhelming and I would like to take a look at six potential spirits who could be added as dlc.

Elma

Xenoblade has been a successful series for Nintendo since its inception on the Wii, and right now the only representative fighter is Shulk. Elma was perhaps the most popular character introduced in the subsequent game from Xenoblade Chronicles X, and for good reason. Elma has a great design, unique attacks and was a focal character that drove the story. Elma would be a great addition to Smash and could make use of the weapons from Xenoblade Chronicles X, her attacks from that game and a Skell could even be involved, perhaps as her final smash.

Rayman

Ubisofts platforming star has a long history with Nintendo, starting with the cancelled SNES version of the original Rayman, and ports of the games on almost every Nintendo System since then. There has of course been a crossover between Mario and the spinoff series Rabbids as well. Rayman would not be that hard to imagine as a fighter either, he could use his moves from the games and even have some reinvented ones that Sakurai and the devs could come up with. More importantly, Rayman could also have attacks and abilities that reference other Ubisoft games, especially the Rabbids.

Tethu

Tethu/Tethi is the protagonist of Ever Oasis for the 3DS and while the character may seem like an odd choice, the fact is Ever Oasis was an amazing game that deserves more attention, and Tethu/Tethi would also have a very creative moveset. In addition to melee attacks with a variety of weapons, they could use various forms of magic and even summon the water spirit Esna for assistance in attacks and defense and perhaps a final Smash. Tethu/Tethi would also bring some diversity to the roster which can only be a good thing for gamers as a whole.

Musashi

Sushi Striker The Way of Sushido was an interesting game from Nintendo. It was a puzzle action game where you fought other characters and tried to match as many suchi plates as of the same colorur as possible to defeat opponents, while the sushi passed by on conveyor belts. It was fast paced an different and could be reflected well in Smash. While Musashi is a Samurai, his (or her if the female Musashi is also included) attacks could instead be focused around sushi and unconventional weaponry. His/Her special moves could have a puzzle like nature to them, or he/she could simply use different types of fish and fish based attacks. And of course, the amazing music would be reflected as well.

Kunio

Kunio is a beloved character from a long line of games. Beloved in Japan, with games like are well respected in the west as well, there are a variety of ways to adapt Kunio. His beat em up games could be represented well with Smash attacks, but his special attacks could also reference the various Kunio-Kun sports games, such as Super Dodgeball and the Ice Hockey and Soccer/Football games. He could even have an alt skin with Rikki, similar to how Bowser Jr has the Koopalings and Olimar has Alph. Kunio could be one of the more unique characters, with wide ranging attacks and Smash is the place to show him off.

Jill & Drill Dozer

Jill from Drill Dozer is an interesting character. Drill Dozer was a GBA game from GameFreak with unique rumble mechanics that has aged surprisingly well. Jill would move around in her large drill tank called the Drill Dozer. Jill’s attacks would use the various abilities of the Drill Dozer is a way similar to Bowser Jr and the Koopa Clown Car. Jill’s attacks could also take advantage of the HD rumble of the Switch and factor in different degrees of pressure and how long you hold down a movement to apply your attacks. The gear system from Drill Dozer could also be factored in to create some neat variety in your attacks.

And there you have it . What Spirits would you want to become playable in the game?
