Wired has published an exclusive first-look at Sony’s as yet unnamed next-gen console, courtesy of Mark Cerny. There’s a lot of technical jargon to sift through, but here’s the most important information I was able to extract.
- Ray-tracing for enhanced lighting and reflections, as well as 3D audio
- Built-in solid state drive allowing for vastly improved load times
- 8K graphics support
- Backwards compatibility with PS4 games
- Compatibility with the current PSVR headset
As a big PS4, PSVR, and all round Playstation fan, this all sounds pretty amazing. The article is incredibly hardware focused as little information on software or features has been provided just yet, but regardless, it sounds like the “PS5” is shaping up to be a major step up over its predecessor.
