Microsoft and 343 Industries continues the Halo franchise, announcing Halo: Spartan Assault which will be available on on Windows 8 and Windows Phone 8. Halo: Spartan Assault is the first top-down action shooter that which will bring the video game to touch-based devices.
Set between the events of Halo 3 and Halo 4, the latest game will explore the first missions of the Spartan Ops program and goes deeper into the backstory of the Human-Covenant wars. Players will be able to pick between Commander Sarah Palmer or Spartan Davis stationed aboard the UNSC Infinity in their fight against Covenant forces. The single-player campaign with 25 levels will allow players to compete against friends in Leaderboards, offer weekly challenges, and will also be able to collect 40 in-game Achievements and Medals.
In addition, 343 Industries has teamed up with Dark Horse Comics to create “Halo: Initiation,” a three-part comic series which reveals the story of how Commander Sarah Palmer became a Spartan-IV and leads directly into the exciting missions of “Halo: Spartan Assault.” The game will be available in July for $6.99 ERP.
