A new fan project is bringing Capcom’s classic fighting game, Street Fighter 2, to the original Nintendo Entertainment System in a big way. This homebrew of Street Fighter 2 on the NES is referred to as “Street Fighter 2 Deluxe NES,” and was led by a user on romhacking named sebastianangel. What started as a passion project of one dev hase become a full team project including those providing music and sound drivers.
The gameplay seems to run smoothly and looks and feels like an old NES game, and according to Fox Cunning, who worked on the aforementioned music and sound drivers, this homebrew uses the same mapper chip as Castlevania 3, which means that this can be put onto a real NES cartridge and played on the original hardware.
My portion of coding is about done, including easter eggs ?
The art people are still adding the last touches, but I'm looking forward to the release of this hack.
